As per IMARC Groups latest report titled, ‘Native Starch Market in India: Industry Trends, Share, Size, Growth, Opportunity and Forecast 2021-2026’, the native starch market in India is expected to reach a volume of 8.5 million metric tons by 2026, growing at a CAGR of nine percent during the forecast period (2021-2026). Modified starch uses have opened new possibilities in the food processing domain where consumers are opting for great tasting food and snacks on the table or on the go. Not only in food processing, modified starch has found its uses in various other kinds of industries that are important to the business environment altogether.
However, only manufacturing and supplying a product is not sufficient when the world and its demands are changing constantly. With growing health and personal hygiene concerns, it has become important for consumers now more than ever to choose the right food. The industry now requires manufacturers to stay abreast with the modern technologies for production and delivery of products that live up to the standards of an urban living environment. Regaal Resources from Bihar is one those manufacturers in this domain who believe that it is their duty to have a process that involves all the modern technologies and feels utterly responsible for the quality of the end product. Currently, the company is making native starch, and with emerging opportunities, it is also in progress to set up certain modified starch and its derivatives to add on to the current product line.
Anil Kishorepuria, Managing Director of Regaal Resources mentions, “Our clients are of many kinds from large institutions, small buyers/dealers and we also regularly export to countries outside India. Their expectations are of three things primarily: highest quality products, on time delivery, and competitive pricing. In addition to this, we also provide great customer service and communication to all our clients. We always keep our clients’ priorities and expectations in mind while conducting business and we are very grateful to have great clients who trust us completely”.
Operational Excellence
The soul of the company lies in the ‘power of quality’ and ‘best in house customer service’, as it uses the latest technology under experienced technical leaders within the firm. Its quality is one of the best in the industry. Regaal also makes it a priority to ensure on time delivery and makes sure the rates are competitive as it supplies all across India and even export products. Since starch is a commodity product where prices change every day due to volatility, when the prices rise, Regaal still supplies to the customers at the order taken at lower prices - ensuring a customer first approach in business. Regaal’s customer-centric approach allows it to employ an open and collaborative approach with its partners. This gives the company a better perspective on how it can deliver cost-effective and beneficial outcomes for all the stakeholders on every project, no matter how complex or challenging it is.
“The company encourages its people to give innovative ideas to continually improve the processes and thereby meet customers’ requirements with the highest quality standards and provide the best value of raw material to the farmers”, says Karan Kishorepuria, Executive Director of the company.
“We are using a 12-stage starch washing facility, whereas most other units in India are using an eight-stage washing facility. By doing this our brightness and quality is one of the best in the industry. We utilize automatic starch packing machinery which helps us emit foreign particles in our finished material. It also leads to faster and more efficient packing. We are among the first few plants in India to run a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) unit. Through this we are completely recycling our entire process water of the plant and there is zero discharge of affluent outside our factory premises.
By various methods we are reducing steam and power consumption which makes our cost of production very competitive. And we also try and pass on this benefit to our consumers. We use Rotary Vacuum Drum Filter (RVDF) for gluten dewatering rather than press which is a newer technology and causes less spillage and is more environmentally-friendly. These are a few of the many processing capabilities we are utilizing to deliver the best product to our end consumers”, states Anil Kishorepuria, Managing Director.
Togetherness is one of the key company values at Regaal Resources and all members strongly believe in the company motto: ‘We value togetherness and together we create value’. That being said, the company is always open and looking to collaborate to make it better. Regaal works with various people both large and small for supply of corn to make starch. The company also takes a considerable percentage of its material directly from the farmers, which enables them to not travel long journeys to the market and also provides them better rate as the company saves on the freight. When getting machines, the technical team travels out of India to make sure it builds relationships with the machine suppliers and gets the best machines for the plant.
“We always strive to go the extra step for our customers. To do this, we ensure the highest quality products, at the most competitive prices - always keeping the customer first in our minds. Today we are shipping our products pan India and even exporting to many countries. Our team is perhaps the most critical partner we have. Without them we cannot grow and function. We strive to provide the team with an amazing work environment with a consciously designed work culture and a place where they can see themselves growing long term and prospering”, mentions Navneet Baheti, COO of the company.
Currently, the company is manufacturing four products that have varied industrial applications. They are one of the most trusted maize starch manufacturers in the country with clients ranging from many industries like the paper industry food processing industry, medical and pharmaceutical industry, textile industry and colour industry. The gluten manufactured by Regaal is applicable in the animal feeds manufacturing sector. The germ produced is necessary in the maize oil extraction plants and the enriched fibre they manufacture is used in the poultry industry for cattle feed purposes.
