The quality in chemistry is at the heart of every patented waterproofing material. No matter how shiny or glossy a coating or an emulsion may seem, the value of it is ultimately derived from the long lasting experience that can be gained from it. The integration of waterproofing compounds into coatings and emulsions is more of a necessity nowadays owing to rising scale of infrastructure of the country. However, there are only a few establishments in India which have developed their own waterproofing compounds and amalgamated those with their coatings and emulsions in order to provide the consumer, the optimum quality experience.
Kamat Paints, hailing from the state of Maharashtra is an emerging manufacturer of waterproofing coatings and emulsions that provides the essential colours and the needed protection in the industrial segment as well as the consumers at large. Backed by advanced and sustainable technologies, their innovative products are specifically designed in order to meet the growing demands of the rapidly changing market. Furthermore, all the products by Kamat Paints are produced with complete precautions in an environment friendly way. “Our manufacturing facilities have state-of-the-art environmental management system. Their commitment to safety, environment
and the society has been best in class, with due care being taken to protect the people and the environment”, says Bharat Venkatesh Kamat, Business and Technical Head, Kamat Paints.
The Success Story
Back in 1997, brothers Mohandas Kamat and Bharat Kamat brought Kamat Paints into existence. Mohandas Kamat had done his MBA in marketing and his brother Bharat was a senior official in the technical department for one of the renowned paint companies of that time. Being a technical person, Bharat had both the knowledge and the experience to come up with something of own. Eventually, he came up with his own water proofing compound. Both the brothers, belonging from varying backgrounds saw the profitability and emerged the market with their own waterproofing coatings and emulsions.
Starting from around 5 lakhs/ year in 1997, Kamat Paints has achieved a sales value of 4.5 crore/year in the last financial year
Over the years, the company has come up with quality coatings and emulsions not only for the industrial segment, but also consumers across the city of Mumbai and all the way to Badlapur. It was only in the year of 2011, that the brothers again came up with their patented product in the lacquer coating segment which is manufactured only by a handful of companies in India. “Kamat Paints has gained much appreciation on their quality of material and service and can easily complete with bigger players in the geography we cover”, states Bharat.
