MAY 20238TOP STORIES Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) and ACME Group, a diversified green energy company, recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore the potential business opportunities of green hydrogen. The companies will work together to encourage customer adoption and generate demand for green hydrogen in the nation. The companies will also collaborate to investigate thepossibility of establishing hydrogen producing facilities, including installing electrolyzers to mix green hydrogen into IGL's current pipeline networks supplying petrol to homes, businesses and other settings, as well as CNG for automobiles. Manoj K. Upadhyay, founder and chairman of the ACME Group, stated that "both the partners will identify areas/projects for green hydrogen adoption in the country". According to Ashwani Dudeja, President & Director (Green Hydrogen and Ammonia), ACME Group, as a green energy provider to various cities, will bring its knowledge and skills to the cooperation, while IGL has a ready-made network to blend green hydrogen.Dudeja added, "We will work together on policy issues and aid the business community and the government in establishing an enabling regulatory environment that enables and motivates the customers to give long-term offtake commitments for green hydrogen and green ammonia. According to Sanjay Kumar, managing director of IGL, the creation of green ammonia from green hydrogen has the potential to be another business area for the company. Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) has awarded a 200 MW solar project to state-owned SJVN Ltd, valued at Rs.1,200 crore. Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Nand Lal Sharma announced in a statement that, "the company has obtained 200 MW Grid Connected Solar Power Project in Khavda Solar Park through e-Reverse auction conducted by GUVNL, SJVN Ltd". The project is priced at Rs.2.88 per unit and will be built on a build-own-and-operate (BOO) basis. He stated that an estimated Rs.1,200 crore will be spent on the project's development. The project is anticipated to produce 505 million units in the first year of commissioning and approximately 11,756 million units of energy overall over a 25-year timeframe."The project is anticipated to reduce 5,76,067 tonnes of carbon emissions upon commissioning. Our solar and wind portfolio now has 17,620 MW, of which 179.5 MW is operational and the remaining portion is in various phases of execution, thanks to the allocation of this project, the executive stated.
