Toward a Healthier World
The journey to produce rice bran oil that will eventually contribute towards a healthier world started in 2004. At that point, there were only three struggling solvent extraction plants in Odisha. Most of the total quantity of Rice bran produced in Odisha state remove was supplied to factories of neighboring states due to non favourable business conditions for solvent extraction plants in Odisha. Founders of BGFPPL, Mohan Lal Agrawal and Ravindra then took this challenge as an opportunity and decided to enter in to this business. “With a zeal for upliftment of local people of our state Balgopal Food Products Private Limited was incorporated at Bargarh in Odisha,” says Ravindra. On 15th January 2005 first commercial production of solvent extraction plant started with 100 TPD (tonns per day) capacity.
Promoters were determined to provide healthy cooking oil to people, to achieve this the company added Refined rice bran oil production unit in 2007 (Om gold & Nivadan brands). Continuous increase in oil demand led the company to increase solvent extraction capacity from 100 TPD to 200 TPD in 2010 and 500 TPD in 2018 and refining capacity from 30 TPD to 100 TPD. Parboiled Rice milling unit production started in 2015. “With this step we added Parboiled rice to our production and got rice bran for oil units,” says Girdhar, another Director of the company. Today, company has spread its wings to more than 10 states in India, with more than Rs 350 crores of annual turnover of annual turnover.

For accelerating its growth journey the company is currently working in projects like Fortified rice, Fortified oil and various organic products.
