Valves are critical to maintaining control of flow, temperature, and pressures in fluid systems. However, achieving this goal necessitates selecting, installing, and maintaining the correct control valve. Installing an inefficient valve can lead to critical problems within the overall system, that can lead to system failure. That being said, with different types and categories of valves available in the market, procuring the most efficient valve often becomes a major challenge. Moreover, in India, there are more than 600 valve manufacturers present in the nation. Hence, finding an experienced, authentic and quality driven firm is important.
With 10 years of experience in the valve manufacturing market, Torq Valves Pvt. Ltd. makes a difference in the market. Today, the firm manufactures more than 270 types of valves that serve the need of different industries like- Steel, Aluminum, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Fertilizer, Oil and Gas, Manufacturing, Power, Petrochemical, Electronics, Water Treatment, Food Processing, HydroCarbon, Paper, Sugar, Fire Fighting, Railways, Consumer Products and more. Owing to the quality of the products delivered, it is one of the few companies in India to bag an order worth 2.5 crore.
“With time, we have developed our competency in delivering a comprehensive range of valves to our clients. Our valves are also compatible with any automation need. Today, Torq Valves has established itself as a one-stop shop that can meet all specific needs of the clients", states Zubair A. Shaikh, CMD at Torq Valves.
Robust Manufacturing Process
Today, Torq has instituted a robust manufacturing process, and right from selection of raw material to delivery of the finished product, the firm takes stringent measures to ensure quality and quick turnaround time.
Starting with the raw material procurement, the team at Torq now solely purchases raw materials from its certified vendors. Steel castings of various grades, stainless steel round bars, stainless steel pipes, forging, hardware, gaskets, paint, and packaging materials are needed during the production process. Prior to being infused into the production process, all raw materials are additionally examined by the company's internal quality assurance department. Only the authorized materials are sent for electroplating and are afterwards kept in stock.
In the next step, the raw material is issued to the machine shop as per schedule from administration. The design department reviews the machined valve components in accordance with the machining drawing. For consistency and interchangeability, machining is carried out on CNC lathes, and drilling is carried out on a drilling machine with the aid of jig fixtures. All accepted materials are then transported to the fitting/assembling unit after a hydrostatic test is completed on the valve body's dimensionally and visually acceptable components. Once the valve assembly is complete, it is sent for a hydro-pneumatic leakage test using the zero tolerance theory after being handled properly to prevent scratches on the machining surface.
One coat of a corrosion-resistant primer (red oxide) is sprayed on cast steel goods, and if an uneven surface is found, a high temperature putty is employed.
Selected colors for various types of valves are then sprayed twice for a better surface appearance. The Quality Assurance Department, whose job it is now to correlate and verify all documents pertaining to the valve in question, conducts the final examination. All of the valves are wrapped in polythene bags, inflated with air bubbles, and placed in a wooden box with a bed of waste paper in the packaging department to prevent valve damage. The cargo is sent to the transport after the dispatch department double-checks all the information provided in the packing notes, invoice, and purchase order.
Multi-Layer Testing Ensuring Quality
Torq has been stringent about the quality of the products manufactured by the firm, and to attain the same, the management team has instituted multi layer testing systems to assure nil defect leakage.
“At Torq, we adhere to stringent testing procedures right from raw material procurement to final product delivery. Unlike standard 3 types of testing procedure, we are performing five different types of testing on our products that are done at different stages of manufacturing. We also use advanced testing machines like — NTT, Ultrasonic radiography", mentions Zubair.
Furthermore, to institute a robust testing environment, it has automated its testing facility. Today, the total testing done at Torq is done with minimal human intervention, on a fully automated basis. The set of automated testing instruments at Torq includes — seat leak test, pneumatic operating pressure test with valve on hydro pressure, 4 to 20 operation & feedback testing, 2 no +2 nc feedback & report test.
Other than automated testing facility the other tests done by Torq includes — pneumatic actuator test, torque output test, cycle test, response time test, radiation & local qualifications, helium leak detection test, vibration test, seismic qualification as per ieee 323, 344 & 383.
Team of Technocrats
The team of Torq group has been its unique driving force propelling the growth of the firm in the market. Zubair A. Shaikh, the CMD at Torq, possesses an in-depth domain knowledge of more than 30 years of domain knowledge. The deep rooted experience of Zubair A. Moving on, Torq also has a group of technocrats that plays a significant role in keeping the company on par with the changing demands of its clients. “Our team of technocrats has always been a step ahead in understanding the changing demands of our clients. Over the years, the impeccable workforce at Torq has helped the firm in manufacturing a wide range of products for different industries like the chemical industry, pharma industry, and others. The valves manufactured by us are not only cost effective but also have a longer service life", says Zubair.
Future Growth Map
Incorporated in 2012, Torq has been through an unwavering growth stride and within its 10 years of operation the firm has spread its wings across the Indian market and also in the global domain. Today, the firm delivers its products in the geographies like — the UK, Turkey, East Africa, Dubai, Qatar, Iraq and more.
Torq now has three manufacturing units at Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Pune; wherein the team manufactures a total of 2000 to 2500 units of valves every month. However, in the coming days the firm is working to create a bigger centralized unit at Ahmedabad, that will be equipped with all the latest machinery. Further, developing a centralized unit will also help the firm in assuring minimum turnaround time while upgrading the quality standards. In the coming days, Torq is also optimistic about spreading its reach to other markets of the world.
