Tea is neither new nor a novelty in India. It’s been an essential commodity for us for a very very long time now. However, with time, the perception about tea has gone through a 360-degree change. No longer is tea just ‘chai’. Tea is now perceived, and in fact is, one of the healthiest beverages. It has been proven that regular consumption of tea helps reduce cell damage caused due to free radicals as well as lowers cholesterol levels and facilitates healthy weight loss including a host of other health benefits.
And with the explosion of interest and enthusiasm in health foods, customers expect tea makers to also ideate and innovate to create unique blends that cater to the unique needs of the new-age customer. Moreover, the customer of today expect personalized concierge services, and tea that is created for their own unique palate.
With a farm-to-table approach, Teasana is a young and promising brand that sources its raw materials directly from the tea estates and small-scale farmers. The brand has been creating unique hand-blended flavours that match lifestyle and health demands of today’s customers.
Further, Teasana also personalizes and customizes the blends based on unique health needs of every prospective customer. For instance, Mirchi tea was created for those who favour spice, ginger-less masala tea for those allergic to this aromatic root. In fact, Teasana has been creating pure chamomile tulsi tea as there was a customer who wanted the benefits of both of these in her daily evening tea.
“For each and every blend we create, our primary focus has been on the tastes and needs of our clients. Over the first year of operation, we had a 1200 percent increase in revenue. We already have 40 distinct mixes for various palates and ailments. We plan to have at least one tea for every type of health issue by end of 2023. As we also make on demand tea, we have a competitive advantage in the market today. Our primary focus over the previous two years has been on developing unique blends, and we think the time has come to bring them to market,” says Biswajit Tripathy, Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Teasana.
“We haven’t gone to the market full-fledged as yet, and all of our sales till now are from word of mouth. Once we are in the market, we are going to be one of those few players who will have a tea for every season, a tea for every reason,” he adds.
