Sustainable or ethical clothing has started making its mark in the Indian market. From paying workers fairly to use of natural fabrics and dyes, brands are embracing this new shift in the world of the clothing industry. With more and more Indians becoming aware of the environmental consequences of fast-fashion, they are making the necessary shift.
Today, ecofriendly clothing is made without any compromise on quality. They are stylish, well-designed, durable and not to mention affordable. AUROBI is a marketplace for sustainable fashion, set up with the goal of making sustainable shop-ping effortless, non-compromising and accessible to the consumers, while ensuring circularity (zero land-fill guarantee).
“The organic textile and apparel industry is seeing prolific growth over the past decade and it has only sped up further post pandemic world. According to the Organic Cotton Association, the market grew at a whopping 31 percent in 20-21 and was expected to rise by another 10 percent by the end of 21", shares Siddhant Kashyap, Director & Co-Founder, Infinite X Circular Systems. It is the parent company of Aurobi.
The firm builds a network of donation partners, NGOs, resellers, recyclers & upcyclers, coupled with logistics and tech services. Aurobi relies on
the same infrastructure to achieve circularity. The core team at Aurobi comprises four members with combined experience of over 35 years across textile, tech, circular economy, business and fashion.
Set To Create A Difference
Aurobi is a sustainable and circular fashion market place. The firm acts as an aggregator and does not sell products under private labels. To ensure minimum quality standards and consistent quality across products, the firm conducts a strict vetting process before boarding a brand into their market place.
"We allow our customers to return the clothes bought from the platform even after years of use, so that we can bring them back into the value chain such that they remain in their highest value form for the longest possible period", shares Siddhant. What makes Aurobi different from other marketplaces is their sustainable fashion choices, transparency and convenience coupled with the ability to return back the clothes even after years of usage in return for the incentives. The company boasts of 40+ sellers and 3000+ curated sustainable fashion products across nine categories from clothing to jewellery, footwear, baby essentials and home decors.
Serving The 3 P’s (People, Planet And Profit)
Moving forward, Aurobi is working on taking their business global next year. The ethical fashion industry was pegged at $ 6.5 billion in 2020 and is expected to cross $ 10 billion by 2025 with a CAGR of approx. 9.7 percent. There’s heavy investment going on in this field and even fast fashion brands like H&M, Zara or Shein have started investing in sustainable fashion.

“Our internal research suggests that sustainable fashion brands in India are shipping 80 percent of their inventory internationally. The team at Aurobi realises the global market potential and wants to create a bigger environmental impact”, adds Siddhant. In years to come, the firm aspires to become the most innovative, efficient and largest enabler of the circular economy in fashion. This is eventually the biggest systemic change in fashion. Infinite X Circular Systems is doing just that with Aurobi being the first offering under its Umbrella and many more to come. “We are going to make Circular and sustainable fashion ubiquitous”, signs off Siddhant.
