There are less than 7000 Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) in the country which means every APMC serves 497 Sq Km area as against 5 Sq Km recommended by M S Swaminathan committee. There is huge gap and to fill this gap the Government allowed private institutions to establish Private Market yard in both offline and online format, therefore, Apna Godam has come up with online mandi.
Jaipur-based Apna Godam is the first notified Online Mandi in Rajasthan and the company is currently solving the post-harvest needs of the farmer as a one stop shop – online selling, warehousing, finance syndication and logistics (end-to-end) “We are a super-app trying to ease the life of the farmer, improve their income through better price discovery.
We are enablers to the farmers with a motto of bringing mandi at the doorstep of the farmer. Hence, 'Ab mandi kisan ke dwar' is our slogan'', says Sanjay Agarwal, Founder and CEO of Apna Godam.
Apna Godam provides a mobile app that can be downloaded from any android-based smartphone. This app allows interaction of both buyers and sellers on its platform that leads to best price
discovery (after factoring in the crop quality, moisture content and so on) with an immediate secured payment thus increasing transparency in the entire value chain.
Uniquely Positioned In The Agriculture Marketing Domain
Though the Agriculture Marketing Industry space has recently opened up for the entire private sector, Apna Godam has an edge. First, is its all encompassing mobile application. The company has integrated warehousing , financing and online mandi in one single Application. Second, Apna Godam allows farmers to make their choice.
Its Price Discovery algo rhythm helps farmers select the best buyer that will give him highest Net Realizable Value (NRV). And lastly, the company’s automated triparty arrangement through which a seller can sell the commodity even if the loan has been taken on it. Apna Godam automatically calculates the loan outstanding and the interest amount. The same is deducted from the sales proceeds. The remaining amount is credited to the seller.
In FY 22, Apna Godam clocked GMV of 50 Crores INR. It has handled 11 Lac Ton Kilometer of the logistics ( Weight * distance) and has a Loan book of 13 Crores in its NBFC Company. “We are present in Rajasthan and Punjab , Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh , Bihar and Bengal. However, procurement is limited to Rajasthan. For Sale of Groundnut to street vendors we have opened distribution Centers in other states”, says Sanjay.

Onward And Upward
Initially, when Apna Godam started supplying barley to United Breweries Company, its 10 consignments were rejected one by one on Quality issues. “We kept on improving our assaying methods and now we supply more than 5000 Metric ton a year", adds Sanjay. For Ground nut Supply Chain, the team travelled all across from a village in Rajasthan to a village in Bihar to understand the supply chain. Today, the company supplies Ground nut of more than 10 Crore a year.
“If anything is not working, we take that hard truth early instead of Force fitting. We are not shy to accept that. More such learnings along the way and higher our growth trajectory”, concludes Sanjay.
