The state-owned energy powerhouse NTPC said that its electricity production increased by about 12% between April and February of the fiscal year, to 364.2 billion units. In contrast to the nation's generation growth of 9.56 percent, NTPC Ltd.
"recorded 11.92 percent rise in generation, i.e. 364.2 BU in FY23 through February month," according to a company statement. NTPC continues to demonstrate an increasing trend in coal production from its captive mines. It stated that the NTPC Captive Coal production stood 2.6 Million Metric tonnes(MMT) whereas the despatch stood 2.5 MMT, thus registered a robust growth of 80 per per cent and 87 per cent respectively, in February vis-a-vis previous corresponding year.
Cumulative coal production surpassed 20 MMT in FY23. To increase the amount of coal produced from its coal mines, NTPC has taken a number of actions. The use of high-capacity dumpers and an expansion of the fleet size of excavators already in use have allowed the active mines to boost productivity, according to the report. The installed capacity of the NTPC Group (including subsidiaries and joint ventures) is 71,594 MW.
