Japanese auto parts manufacturer Musashi has announced its move into the electric mobility sector in India by collaborating with BNC Motors. The company revealed its plans to invest Rs 70 crore in the early stages of the business. Musashi India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Musashi Seimitsu Industries, specializes in the production of transmission components for two and four-wheelers powered by internal combustion engines.
Musashi plans to use its design and engineering expertise to develop an electric vehicle (EV) unit comprising a motor, PCU, and gearbox. The manufacturing of this e-Axle will begin at the company's plant in Bengaluru from October. As part of the first phase, Musashi will allocate Rs 70 crore to establish an assembly line for the product at its Bengaluru manufacturing facility.
Toshihisa Otsuka, the CEO of India and Africa Region at Musashi Seimitsu Industries, expressed the company's commitment to introducing Musashi's advanced technology and expertise to the Indian electric mobility sector. He emphasized their focus on providing essential components that will contribute to the growth and success of electric vehicles.
Musashi's expansion into the e-mobility market is made easier through a strategic collaboration with Bharat New-Energy Company (BNC) Motors in India. Additionally, the company has already secured its initial contracts with Strom in Thailand, EV Go in Vietnam, and Arc Ride in Kenya. These partnerships entail the supply of e-Axles manufactured in India.
With this venture, Musashi aims to make an important impact on India's evolving electric mobility landscape. By combining its expertise in technology with strategic collaborations, the company seeks to contribute to the widespread adoption of electric vehicles across different markets. The investment of Rs 70 crore in the first phase reflects Musashi's commitment to establish a robust manufacturing ecosystem for electric mobility components in India. Through this growth, Musashi has the potential to play a vital role in driving the growth and success of the electric mobility sector in India and other international markets.
