RK Singh, Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy and Power, the installed capacity of wind energy in India is expected to reach an amazing 43,773 megawatts (MW) by 30 June 2023. Due to the nation's emphasis on renewable energy sources, a sizable 71,814 million units of electricity were produced from wind energy in the fiscal year 2022–2023.
The minister stated in a written response to a query in the Rajya Sabha that the nation's installed wind energy producing capacity was 43,773 MW as of June 30, 2023. The amount of power produced by wind in the nation during FY 2022–23 was 71,814 million units. "The major wind energy producing States for the year 2022-23 were Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana," he continued.
The minister stated that the ministry of new and renewable energy is aiming to achieve 500 GW of installed power capacity from non-fossil sources by the year 2030, including capacity for wind energy, in accordance with the prime minister's announcement at COP26. According to the Central Electricity Authority's "Report on Optimal Generation Capacity Mix for 2029-30 Version 2.0," wind energy's installed capacity is predicted to be 99,895 MW by the end of the 2029–30 year.
