The ministry of electricity said that the fourth Energy Transitions Working Group (ETWG) meeting under India's G20 Presidency will take place in Goa beginning on July 19. More than 100 representatives from G20 member nations, special invitee nations, and various international organisations will attend the two-day summit, it was noted.
Pawan Agarwal, who is the ETWG chair and secretary for the Ministry of Power, will preside over the meeting. Bhupinder Singh Bhalla, the secretary for the ministry of new and renewable energy, Vivek Bharadwaj, and Amrit Lal Meena, the secretary for the ministry of coal, would also attend the conference and take part in the discussions, it was announced.
The six priority topics listed for India's G20 Presidency highlight the nation's focus on different energy transitional issues and fostering international collaboration for the development of sustainable and clean energy.
These priority areas include fuels for the future, universal access to clean energy, just, affordable, and inclusive energy transition pathways, energy transitions through addressing technology gaps, low-cost financing for energy transitions, energy security and diversified supply chains, industrial low carbon transitions, and responsible consumption.
The Goa meeting's discussions will expand on those from the first three sessions, which took place in Bengaluru, Gandhinagar, and Mumbai, in order to identify and promote the best practises, laws, and cutting-edge strategies that support a fair and inclusive energy transition. The meeting's main focus will be on-depth talks of the draught ministerial communique, which is presently being discussed and will be further solidified, according to the statement.
The meeting will be complemented by a number of side events, including one on enabling policies to accelerate e-mobility, one on promoting solar energy for universal energy access, one on DRE applications for achieving SDG7 (sustainable development) goals, one on driving knowledge and solutions through aggregation in energy efficiency, and one on empowering progress in the global south with accessible and affordable clean energy for all, according to the statement.
