Amid the current uptick in the need for trustworthy energy sources, the global power plant maintenance sector has assumed significance by centering its efforts on sustainable energy practices and the imperative to extend the lifespan of infrastructure. Aging facilities, technological advancements, and the widespread adoption of predictive maintenance propel the sector's expansion. This growth is further augmented by global investments aimed at updating power installations.
However, power plants encounter challenges such as aging structures, adherence to environmental regulations, and the continual pursuit of cost-effective maintenance coupled with efficient operations. Embracing cutting-edge technologies becomes imperative to produce dependable, sustainable, and economically viable energy in this dynamic market landscape.
Vigor Engineering Services helps Engine Based power plants address these challenges through engine services, spare parts, relocation of used power plants, and electro-mechanical works. The company plays a vital role in the power industry, with a clientele spanning power plants like Wartsila and diverse sectors. “While our impact in India faces constraints, our international endeavors flourish, especially in the Middle East, Africa, and Nepal. Despite hurdles, our electrical
project services persist, catering to industries such as pharma and cement,” says Sharfuddin Baig, Director of Vigor Engineering Services.
Managing Equipment Relocation
The market scenario in India has shifted, with power plants becoming burdensome, leading customers to prefer non-maintenance. This has created an opportunity, with a gap emerging in Africa and the Middle East. Customers in these regions express interest in purchasing used power sets, a more economical alternative than investing in new ones. Given its expertise, Vigor Engineering Services assists them in facilitating deals, providing technical and physical reports on the existing power plants for reuse, and managing equipment relocation.
While others in the industry focus on business management, Vigor Engineering Services stands out as a team of technocrats, all with a background of Wartsila Products. This technical expertise is the company’s distinctive advantage. Unlike some companies that rely on hiring external experts, it prides itself on an in-house team with profound knowledge. “Big players in the industry may follow a business formula, but they lack our level of technical proficiency. When faced with challenges related to Wartsila in the marine sector, clients often turn to us for our specialized and superior technical skills, recognizing our company as a leader in providing expert services,” explains Sharfuddin Baig.
Rigorous In-House Testing
The company's developed components have proven successful through rigorous in-house testing and collaboration with diverse customers. Importantly, these items are not only locally produced but also offer a competitive edge in pricing. This strategy aligns with the current market trend, where customers prefer locally sourced components over imported ones.
“We operate with three teams – Engine based Power Plant Services, Electrical installation, and Supply of Spare parts. Our electrical engineers bring project expertise, while Wartsila-experienced colleagues excel in operations, maintenance, and services. With a minimum of 15 years’ experience, everyone is well-equipped, ensuring efficient and skilled job handling,” shares Sharfuddin Baig.
One of the many examples of Vigor’s efficacy is how a customer entrusted it with servicing a machine that had been dormant for over nine months. It swiftly resolved the issue with minimal input, restarting the engine and restoring continuous power. The customer, delighted with the outcome, expressed appreciation, leading to ongoing collaborations and control over their ten machines.
“We plan to grow our portfolio in analytical products, focusing on constructing new cement plants. While we have worked on various products for cement factories, the volume is limited. Our expansion targets the electrical and marine sectors,” envisions Sharfuddin Baig.
