The Indian private security industry is expanding at a compounded annual growth rate while it also employs around nine million people majority of whom are from rural backgrounds and this is expected to increase in coming times. Offering A Gamut Of Services
SRF Detective & Security Services specializes in personnel security, assets protection, Law and order Liaising, Escort services, Security Risk Assessment and Threat Perception, Special events security, Executive Protection, Detective and Investigation Services and many more. However, the industry operates amidst some real challenges - 60 percent of the security service providers still operate as unorganized, thereby keeping the sector pricing oriented and amenable to unfriendly employment practices and making it difficult to monitor quality and compliance.
Technology integration is also a challenge as it is widening the gap between the well-established players and smaller players in the industry as
most clients are now looking for technology-enabled security solutions. Lack of quality manpower, high attrition rates and compliance requirements continue to pose major challenges to the growth of the manned guarding services market besides low wages. Even though the authorities have prescribed the minimum wage, the compliance in the industry is inconsistent. The minimum wage is not sufficient for a person to survive in a place like Bengaluru, and this is one of the major challenge we come across, says Sheethal Kumar BR, Managing Director SRF and General Secretary Karnataka Security Services Association (KSSA).
The key issue lies with the foundation training of guards. Many firms do an ad-hoc job of training, many times not fulfilling the bare minimum set by PSARA. The quality of trainers, instruction material are not relevant and outdated. Shortage of trained and skilled security personnel is a persisting challenge in this sector confers Capt. Prabhat Kumar Pandit (Retd), Vice President Training and Development, a Veteran and NSDC Certified Master Trainer.
To overcome this challenge, SRF Detective & Security Services has established the State of the art Residential Training Centre located at Tumkur Road, Bangalore. Training being imparted by a team of NSDC (ToT) qualified trainers and in accordance with National Skill Development Corporation & Security Skill Training standards. The training facility and training standards have subsequently facilitated several Karnataka based security agencies to have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for training of their guarding staff at SRF Training Centre.
SRF was founded in 2012 with 400 + security personnel and eventually grew to 6000+ in 2021. The firm is headquartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka with branches in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu. Moving forward by 2024, SRF is planning to open Branches and training centers all across Karnataka to combat manpower challenges and subsequently planning to expand pan India by 2027. What makes SRF different from other players in this sector is their complacency with the law and industry regulations and quality committed security solutions and allied security services.
