"Before incorporating our company, we used to have one BPCL Petrol Pump in Lalsot, Distt Dausa. Lalsot being a small town, our family name was known for Fairness and Trust and thats why people across all part of city use to come for fueling to our pump leaving many other pumps on the way.
At one time, there was some supply issues (due to our customer) and we were not given adequate fuel and hence many people who visited our pump, went back empty fuel tanks. That time my father Mahendra Kumar Patni, along with my uncle, Ashok Kumar Patni procured first vehicle for captive use. After seeing the commitment of 100% fuel 24X7, he decided to serve other pump owners by a separate transport company. That's how Prem Cargo Mover was incorporated in 1995. I (Arpit Patni) joined the family business post my engineering from IIT Kanpur and MBA from ISB Hyderabad.
Before joining, I worked in Zinnov Management consulting and Arshiya Logistics to learn about how to work with customers to improve objectives, various issues transporters face as well as how to create WIN-WIN environment for long term relationships. We grew almost double form 120 vehicles to 250 vehicles in last eight years. The company which started with one vehicle in 1995, has over 250 vehicles as of today. Today, we have fleet for liquid products (Oil Tankers and Gas Tankers), solid bulk cargo (trailers), and Automobile products (Two wheelers carriers and Car carriers)”, briefs Arpit Patni, Director.
Leveraging Technology
A strong believer in technology as enabler, the company is exploring all fronts, where technology can be used to bring efficiency, transparency as well as cost effectiveness. Let it be using GPS technology for vehicle tracking, advance telematics for driver behaviour study, ERP for vehicle preventive records, Prepaid ATMs for drivers as well as fastag for cashless toll deduction as well as Cloud/online sheets for capturing transactions between various branches at real time. While many of these have become common for transporters now, the company take pride is being front runner for using them as well as willingness to try various new products.
Advance telematics is also very useful for keeping vehicles within their speed limits as well as drivers taking enough breaks after continuous driving.
