Today, the aerospace market is developing at a fast pace in India, especially in the socalled aero city - Bangalore. Over the years, many factors have been contributing to this growth, especially with DRDO specializing in this field with around 10 aero labs engaged in developing solutions not only for the platform but also for various modules and LRUs. To add to this, the aerospace market has been given a major thrust by numerous labs of ISRO spread across India as it specializes in different applications like space application, rocket design, cryogenic engines, satellites, rocket propulsion systems and many more.
Indian Govt policies have also encouraged the industry, gearing it towards Make in India and Self-Reliance in a solid propulsion system. On the combat front, the major focus is on developing and producing the platforms for defense forces, whether it is fighter jets, helicopters, transport fleet, UAVs, other systems. Taking note of this growth and the growing opportunities, numerous supporting industries have mushroomed across the country to support this initiative. Additionally, the offset clause made mandatory by the Govt is set to boost the local industries in India.
As the MRO sector is picking up pace across many cities, major advantages that India has is manpower resources, infra, software, and electronics hardware hub, low setting up, and operating cost. One such firm which was set up with the vision to cash on these growth opportunities and contribute to the aerospace industry of India is Logic Fruit Technologies (LTF). Established in the year 2009, LFT is the brainchild of Sanjeev Kumar, Anil Nikhra, and Vineet Goyal, each executive member carrying over 15-20 years of industry experience.
An AS 9100D certified firm based out of Bengaluru, LFT was established keeping in mind the developments taking place in the aerospace sector. Since its inception, LFT has worked on the T&M business model and focused on protocol solutions for Test and Measurement companies.
“We have been involved with developing various systems for many organizations like HAL, BEL, ITI, and different labs of DRDO like CABS, LRDE, IRDE, DEAL, DARE, CAIR, ADE and, ADA to name a few. We have also successfully paved our way into global geographic markets - Singapore, the US, Europe. Over the past five years, we have diversified into many industries like Telecom, Semiconductor, Healthcare, and Data Centres.
We have worked with renowned global firms like Intel, Xilinx, Mentor graphics, Lattice semiconductors, Tesla, Synopsys, and NEC. To top it all, we have also worked extensively with different ISRO labs. Not only do we design for them followed by ToT but we are also into developing the end products in volume. We have established ourselves as one of the major companies to have developed products of strategic nature for the aerospace industry in the domestic market.
Today, LFT is on the verge of a major breakthrough with our product ARINC 818 which will play a pivotal role in the aircraft upgradation efforts of the Indian armed forces and is well suited for civil aviation as well. We are proud to say that LFT is one of the six companies worldwide to have developed this and got it certified”, briefs Sanjeev Kumar, CEO, Logic Fruit Technologies.
Addressing Challenges With Unique Offerings
There are numerous stumbling blocks that the domestic industry faces, and Red tape is the major one. With most of the aerospace sector is still controlled by our Govt., the clearances and payments are often delayed, as a result, many of the bootstrap and the small industry suffer due to these policies. Even though things are opening up
to a great extent now, it may take some time to streamline the processes and make them more industry-friendly. To overcome these challenges, Logic Fruit Technologies carries out the R&D on the products and keeps them ready to be launched as and when a query comes up. The qualification and certification process is normally commenced once the orders are released.
“We provide a complete range of product engineering services including hardware design, software development, FPGA design, turnkey product development, and testing & verification services. Some of our key offerings include Requirement feasibility and Architecture, Hardware Design and development– FPGA/CPU/ADC& DAC based mixed-signal hardware, Mechanical design, Form factors such as VPX/ PXI, Software development – Device drivers/ Board Support Package (Windows/Linux/RTOS hosted), OS porting, FPGA design – Micro-architecture, RTL coding, IP integration, Rapid prototyping, DSP algorithm implementation, verification & validation, QA and certification- EMI/EMC, Environmental testing, Acceptance Testing, and Turnkey Product development”, explains Vineet Goyal, CTO, Logic Fruit Technologies.
With its unique offerings, Logic Fruit Technologies can help customers at any stage of product development as required, right from conception and design to finished product. With experienced professional, technological expertise, and industry know-how, the firm is here to help its customers with accelerated product development and reducing technological risk and time-to-market.
Setting New Benchmarks
Having developed a credible relationship with the early customer base, Logic Fruit Technologies continues to build its protocol capabilities to include high-speed protocols like DigRF, PCIe, HDMI ,and others. In 2011, LFT started working on the Turnkey/Fixed-price model and opened an R&D centre in Gurgaon. As the solutions and the team strength evolved, LFT added reputed companies like Freescale, AMCC and Stryker Technologies to its customer base. One of the milestones for the firm was in 2011, when the firm became a member of the Xilinx Alliance Program. Shortly after, the company diversified into the domestic defence sector and the team continued to grow. Over the years, LFT has engaged in various advanced projects and successfully delivered many complex solutions to Indian defence.
Indian Defence Aerospace segment has some of the most stringent quality and safety requirements. Domain expertise, strict quality management and proven capability to meet these requirements are an absolute necessity for a vendor or service provider. “Our FPGA expertise is among the best in the country and as the partner of all major FPGA companies, we can develop cutting-edge solutions for our customers using the latest technologies.
We also have many in-house developed IPs, which allow us to develop a secure system faster and give our customers complete control over the end product. One of the products that Logic Fruit Technologies has developed under TDFS scheme (Government funded) for Indian Airforce as the end user was delivered to Raksha Mantra. We were the first vendor to deliver the product after receiving CEMILAC certification for airworthiness. This product is developed to be eventually used in Su-30 aircraft. This and many other products that we have developed for our customers have repeatedly proven our capability and customer’s confidence”, shares Sanjeev Kumar.
With its unique Offerings, Logic Fruit Technologies Can help customers At any stage Of product Development as Required, right from Conception and Design to finished Product
Charting The Path Ahead
