Sewage water from households and commercial institutions and various industrial effluents are some of the major contaminants because of which the current generation is suffering the gradual depletion of usable sources of fresh water.
But what if there was a solution to recycle these by-products and convert them to water fit for industrial, agricultural or other secondary uses? EcoHealth Products, an eco-friendly business outfit based out of Chennai, has come up with a number of disruptive products for treatment of sewage and industrial effluents that will help municipal bodies and industries adhere to the important motto of achieving a fresher and greener environment.
“Ecoclean-2300 is a unique water treatment formula that has been developed by EcoHealth. It is a combination of the herbal extracts from the plants of Neem, Tulsi, Moringa and Cleaning Nut which have proven water purifying capabilities. It is non-toxic and safe to use,” states K P Sunil, Chairman & Managing Director, EcoHealth Products. While this is capable of converting sewage into potable grade, Ecohealth has a range of nearly 20 other eco-friendly reagents that can handle stubborn industrial effluents such as oil refinery waste water, textile dyeing effluents, leather effluents, pharmaceutical wastes, etc to make them re-usable for the respective industries. "If this is done systematically,” says Sunil, "the pressure on precious fresh water reserves will reduce drastically and we shall leave behind enough fresh water for the survival of future generations."
Origin Of The Idea
It was back in 2005 when the R&D for creating eco-friendly water treatment
products was started by Sunil in association with S Murthy, Executive Director of EcoHealth. Murthy had been a textile technologist by profession and a herbal researcher by passion. After years of painstaking research and overcoming crucial hurdles, he was able to come up with the different products for waste water treatment that EcoHealth sells now.
According to the Executive Director, the water treatment process is suffering due to the usage of wrong technologies and harmful chemicals, which are making it difficult for industries to recycle and reuse the treated water.

With the products formulated by EcoHealth, most kinds of contaminated water can be treated to the purest possible extent possible. “With years of hard work and research, we have been able to develop a perfect, customized solution for water treatment of any kind using extracts from naturally occurring plants like Neem, Tulsi seed and Cleaning nuts among several others. Being manufactured from naturally occurring substances, EcoHealth's products are non-toxic and do not have any kind of side effects and can be used by anyone. Our products kill all kinds of harmful bacteria and neutralize toxic materials in the water that’s getting treated,” says Murthy.

The Future Ahead
Ecohealth has earned a lot of goodwill from its current clients who are primarily located in India. Apart from the present products for water treatment by the company, it is also trying to develop an eco-friendly product that reduces the salinity in water. “We have got a lot of inquiries from several Gulf countries who have asked us for a solution to decrease the salinity in water. We are currently in the process of accumulating funds for the development of the product and will soon come up with the same,” concludes Sunil.
