The most important aspect of any industrial area, be it assembly lines, warehouses, process areas and commercial complexes is
lighting. Owing to the fact that they are high precision working environments, they demand the highest quality and reliability as lighting has a major contribution to performance. The
industrial lighting market was valued at USD 7.59 billion in 2016 and is expected to reach USD 13.17 billion by 2024, growing at a CAGR of 7.82 per cent between 2017 and 2024.
Moving Towards Standardized Lighting
There is a continuous trend in reduction in the complexity of warehouse lighting and fixtures as manufacturers continue to move towards simpler, less expensive and more standardized lighting. Right now, Industrial lighting is all over the map, with majority of manufacturers offering industrial lighting in their own proprietary configuration.
Over the years, industrial lightings have improved in efficiency, so too is the ability of manufacturers to make fine tune adjustments to the light colour temperature, colour rendering, fixture reflectors and other components that will enable more precise lighting and lighting placement. These features allow for better visual clarity which can be customised for various applications.
Automation Systems are Introduced
LEDs need specific hardware in order to dim and this specific hardware is easily available, installed in no time and adds significant value to the overall lighting solution. LEDs are believed to get more efficient when they are run at less than full power. Also, the lifespan of a light bulb increases when the device is run at less than full power.
Industry experts say that the dimmers and occupancy sensors that are used today will ratchet up a notch with greater emphasis on daylight harvesting for maximum efficiency, integration with existing building maintenance and automation systems. “When integrated with automation systems, warehouse lighting could provide valuable business intelligence to improve processes and workflow”, says
Vincent Alonzi, CEO, FSC Lighting.
