Internet! So familiar… Infact, something that is muddled in our daily life. This buzz word has changed how the entire world works from our learning patterns to the way the startups advertise their success. mobilephones … with internet , have turned out to be so much inseparable from our lives. Ah, Ah! Too much of anything is too bad, internet is deadly bad. Let’s see how.
Without just concentrating on the Internet let’s focus on the content or information accessed via internet. Coz internet is nothing without information. Quite obviously web is the home for data we gain through internet. As we know data need not be something good or used of good/legal stuffs… let’s have a discussion on the ‘The dark web’, as the name suggest, is a hidden part of the internet that most users cannot access using traditional browser or search engine solutions. Most websites on the dark web live in an encrypted server and require a special browser.
We've all probably heard of Tor encryption tool which is famous for its ability to hide a user’s identity and activity. Tor stands for ‘The Onion Router’. This makes it ideal for its use to access Dark Web since Tor can spoof your location to make it seem like you are in a different country, to where you are actually located. Today, we're working together on this

Tor encryption makes the user’s IP address bounce through several layers of encryption before reaching another IP address on the Tor network, i.e. the IP address of the website. This makes it more secretive than just regularly using Tor on the open internet. This also makes it very easy for the average user to access the Dark Web, all you need is Tor. But you need to be as careful not to slip up and reveal your identity.
Tor is not the only way to get to this discreet place on the internet. Everything uses the same methodology of encryption but with your spoofing differences. The Dark Web is used for all sorts of notorious aspects. The infamous Silk Road was used to buy and sell recreational drugs. The dark web is also used for human trafficking, arms trafficking; basically whatever you may need, legal or not, you will find it on the Dark Web provided you know where to look.
But not all uses of the Dark Web are bad, in places like North Korea, where every move of a citizen is watched, they can use the Dark Web to communicate with the outside world and plot their escape. Also in the recent allegations of the US and UK snooping on their citizens, people who want to protect themselves online can use the Dark Web as it makes tracking them extremely difficult.
A basic rule of thumb is that the phrases ‘Dark Web’ or ‘Deep Web’ are typically used by tabloid newspapers to refer to dangerous secret online worlds; the ‘Dark Internet’ is a boring place where scientists store raw data for research. But something tarrying when you think of how much of secret data about companies, crucial deals would be present there!
