A safe and effective vaccine can prevent severe disease, hospitalization, and death caused by COVID-19. The COVID-19 vaccination program has successfully protected billions of individuals around the world. One of the best ways to safeguard yourself from contracting COVID-19, stop the spread of the virus, and slow the emergence of new strains is to be vaccinated.
Anyone aged 18 years or older in India can receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Allocation of vaccines is based on a priority system, including health workers, frontline and essential workers, persons over 45 years, and those with severe medical conditions.
Registration for the vaccine is done through the Co-WIN app, which allows individuals to register themselves or their family members for vaccination. Eligible persons must log in to the app with their mobile number. After registration, they can book an appointment at a government vaccination center near them.
Let's understand who is eligible for vaccination and how to register for the vaccine on the Co-WIN app:
Who are eligible for vaccination?
● WHO-eul-approved COVID-19 vaccines are safe for healthy people and those 18 and older, including those with autoimmune illnesses. Stable and under-control chronic infections, hypertension, diabetes, asthma, lung, liver, kidney, and others are examples.
● Pregnant or lactating women must be vaccinated to protect themselves and their families. Vaccinating pregnant or breastfeeding women against COVID-19 has not caused adverse consequences. Vaccination during pregnancy and nursing may benefit the child. Vaccinate even if your period coincides with it.
● A second COVID-19 vaccine should be administered to immunocompromised people 1–3 months after the first. One or two COVID-19 treatments may not fully build immunity. Thus, immune-compromised patients may need a third dose. Booster shots are advised.
● COVID-19 vaccination safety for youngsters is growing. See the COVID-19 vaccinations FAQ or vaccine pages for age-specific advice.
● Over-60s should receive a third Sinovac or Sinopharm vaccine after 3–6 months. Over-60s get reduced protection from two dosages. Third doses boost immunity. When it's your turn, get a booster.
Who should not get vaccinated even though it is strongly recommended?
Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is an appropriate course of action for the vast majority of individuals.
However, vaccination is not suggested if you have any of the following conditions:
● If you have ever suffered from a severe allergic reaction, including anaphylaxis, caused by any of the components of the COVID-19 vaccine, you
