A private-sector task group will be established by the US Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) and the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) to improve cooperation between the two nations in the global semiconductor ecosystem. The task force will compile industrial, governmental, and academic partners to conduct a "readiness assessment" of the Indian semiconductor ecosystem, identify
short-term business prospects, and support the long-term strategic development of complementary semiconductor ecosystems. IESA is our counterpart in India, and we are excited to launch this new effort with them, said John Neuffer, president and chief executive officer of SIA. India is currently a significant centre for semiconductor research, chip design, and machinery engineering, but it has even more promise in the future, he continued.
In addition to identifying and facilitating opportunities for workforce development and exchange that will benefit both countries, it will also make recommendations on the opportunities and challenges for increasing India's role within the global semiconductor value chain, including chip manufacturing. The president and chief executive officer of IESA, Krishna Moorthy, expressed his excitement at joining the new taskforce in collaboration with SIA
"It would be a crucial forum to bring together global resources to create workable approaches to help India's increase in presence in the global semiconductor sector and then to enable global collaboration."
