The Power System Development Fund receives support from the Union Ministry of Power through nine new schemes valued at ₹488 crore with objectives to strengthen Telangana's power system infrastructure. Various new programs have been created to strengthen the state's grid infrastructure while working towards continuous power delivery.
The Telangana Chief Minister and state officials met with Union Minister for Power Manohar Lal at a review meeting to discuss the state government's need to promptly manage DISCOM legacy debts and maintain timely bill payments.
"The Centre is committed to supporting the installation of smart meters in government offices under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS)," said Manohar Lal. Distribution proposals from Telangana will receive top consideration under the planned distribution scheme, while higher DISCOM ratings will decrease interest costs, which will increase the sector's financial health.
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) formed an MoU to build a "Centre of Excellence in Energy Transition" at TERI's Hyderabad Institute of Energy with funding of ₹25 crore. The organizations will create momentum for sustainable energy improvements and efficient energy practices through their joint efforts.
By implementing these initiatives, the Ministry seeks to build a resilient financial framework for energy systems that will support Telangana's energy transformation efforts and power supply security.
