Tata Power Delhi Distribution, it purchased 26% of its electricity from clean energy sources in 2022–2023, fulfilling its renewable procurement obligation for the third year in a row.
Discoms are required to purchase a certain amount of their total power from renewable energy sources under the Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO). According to a corporate release, "Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd. has fulfilled the RPO for the third consecutive year, a unique feat for any discom in the country."
The firm, which provides electricity to 70 lakh people in north and northwest Delhi, 2,600 million green power units were generated from various renewable energy sources in 2022–2023, including solar, wind, and hydropower. More than 26% of the total units sold by the corporation to its customers were made up of renewable energy, it was claimed.
