A memorandum of understanding between Tata Power and the Maharashtra government calls for the development of two sizable Pumped Hydro Storage Projects (PSP) with a combined capacity of 2800 Megawatts (MW) in the state.
These projects will be built in the Shirawta and Bhivpuri districts of Pune and Raigad, respectively, and are expected to cost around Rs 13,000 crore. "Pumped Hydro Storage is a dependable and efficient way to store energy, and these projects will support the renewable solar and wind projects to ensure a reliable, 24/7 consistent power supply," stated Dr Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power.
According to a statement from Tata Power, the partnership would help the state achieve its lofty goal of having a $1 trillion economy by 2028 while also creating jobs for more than 6,000 people.
