India and Germany have decided to enhance their collaboration in cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), quantum technologies, and green hydrogen, emphasizing innovation-led growth and sustainable development, stated Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh.
Dr. Singh emphasized the robust and enduring collaboration between India and Germany in science, technology, and innovation (STI)
"The two countries can collaborate more closely in key areas like clean energy, biotechnology, cyber-physical systems, electric mobility, and green hydrogen," He stated after his discussion with Bavaria's visiting Minister-President Markus Soder in the national capital.
"The model is helping both countries work together on global challenges and turn ideas into real-world solutions," the Union Minister added.
The increasing strength of India in the biotechnology field was also discussed.
Dr Singh noted that India boasts over 3,000 biotech startups and holds the title of the largest vaccine producer globally.
"India is currently the third-largest country in terms of startups and unicorns, offering great potential for global technology partnerships," he added.
Emphasizing the educational link between India and Germany, Dr. Singh mentioned that more than 50,000 Indian students are presently enrolled in German universities, primarily in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). This figure has increased threefold in the past seven years.
He conveyed hope that a greater number of German students will travel to India to investigate its knowledge systems, such as Oriental Studies and Indian culture.
