The Indian government is willing to work collectively with industry stakeholders to address any issues that may prevent attaining the goal of adding 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, according to New and Renewable Energy Minister Prahlad Joshi. Addressing the 5th CII International Energy Conference & Exhibition inauguration, Joshi said the government will have fixed two-way meetings to handle problems like transmission constraints.
The electricity department mentioned that the nation has added about 15 GW of the renewable energy portfolio in the given period of April and November 2024 which is almost twofold the cumulative brownout of 7.54 GW in the similar period of the preceding year. In culminating, an aggregate of 2.3 gw was installed in November; we are 14 percentage points higher than that of a similar period of this year 2013. With this, India's total installed renewable power capacity now stands at 214 GW.
"India added 15 GW of renewable energy from Apr-Nov 2024, doubling last year's 7.54 GW. Notably, 2.3 GW was added in November alone. With 14 percent year-on-year growth, India's total renewable energy installed capacity now stands at 214 GW," the Union Minister mentioned.
Joshi was also upbeat on India’s Paris Accord emission reduction compliance asserting that the country has already met a 40% cut from the 2005 level with a commitment to meet the 2030 goal of 45% cut. He added this achievement goes well with the task of meeting the increasing energy needs of a fast-developing country.
Celebrating the success of the PM Surya Ghar – Muft Bijli Yojna, Joshi said that the scheme reached 6.3 lakh households within five months. But at the same time, he urged more attention from the sides and, in particular, the industry, noting the decisive importance of states in the initiative.
