GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd., an Essar initiative and India’s only green logistics operator with LNG and electric-powered heavy commercial trucks, is reshaping the future of sustainable transportation. With a fresh $275 million equity investment—featuring a $20 million commitment from entrepreneur Nikhil Kamath—the company is set to accelerate its mission to decarbonize India’s carbon-intensive road logistics sector.
“GreenLine aims to decarbonise India’s transportation sector, which contributes nearly 15% of the country’s total carbon emission,” the company stated. The funding will support the deployment of over 10,000 LNG and EV trucks, and the development of 100 LNG refueling stations, EV charging points, and battery-swapping infrastructure across the nation. The company aims to reduce one million tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually through this initiative.
India’s logistics sector, operating over 4 million trucks, is one of the largest emitters of carbon in the country. GreenLine’s clean mobility solutions, offered at cost parity with diesel, have already made a significant impact—its fleet of over 650 LNG trucks has traveled more than 38 million kilometers, cutting 10,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
“We see this as an opportunity to not only build the green mobility ecosystem, but also, in the future, invest in clean energy sources to power our electric trucks," said Anshuman Ruia, Director, Essar.
