Tata Electronics' decision to obtain a 60% ownership in Pegatron Technology India (PTI) indicates its bold efforts to take control of the electronics manufacturing sector in India. This purchase, revealed on Friday, highlights Tata's dedication to enhancing its production capabilities in the fast-changing AI and digital technology industries.
PTI is set to rebrand to reflect Tata Electronics' vision while continuing to provide top-notch electronics manufacturing services. “The acquisition of a majority stake in Pegatron Technology India fits into Tata Electronics’ strategy of growing our manufacturing footprint. We look forward to a new era of AI, digital, and technology-led manufacturing as we bring up these new facilities and expand our operations in India," said Randhir Thakur, CEO & MD of Tata Electronics, in a statement.
This recent acquisition comes after Tata Electronics acquired Wistron’s operations in India in Narsapura, Karnataka, in March 2024, highlighting the conglomerate's swift progress in electronics manufacturing.
Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran recently disclosed the group’s bold expansion strategy, which encompasses installing nine new manufacturing units in the next two years and an $18 billion investment in electronics and semiconductor projects.
This acquisition reinforces India's status as a worldwide center for electronics manufacturing and confirms Tata Electronics' leadership in promoting technology-driven production solutions.
