In ambition to the growth trajectory of India’s power infrastructure, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and Hitachi collaborated with a significant focus to develop the country’s largest private-sector power transmission project. Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) has entrusted the consortium with developing and delivering high-voltage direct current (HVDC) terminals worth roughly Rs 12,000 Cr.
The project will boost the transfer of renewable energy from Rajasthan’s Bhadla region to Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, enhancing the country’s power infrastructure. According to the statement of Hitachi Energy India, the 6,000 megawatt (MW), 950 km long HVDC link can transfer power to approximately 60 million households all over India. BHEL emphasized that its presence is strengthening in India’s power transmission sector and marks its fourth HVDC project.
Under the contract, Hitachi Energy India and BHEL will deliver critical components, including converter transformers, AC/DC control and protection systems, thyristor valves, and 765 kV/400 kV grid connections. The project will be overviewed under Rajasthan Part I Power Transmission Limited, a subsidiary of AESL, as part of the Phase-III Part I transmission network. This initiative will foster India’s renewable energy grid, supporting the nation’s clean energy transition.
