Innovation Drives India Forward

The year 2024 has been phenomenal for India’s primary and secondary industries, experimenting and adapting to changing economic landscapes. Favorable monsoons and increasing government policies that empower farmers have continued to make agriculture play a critical role. A greater use of digital tools for crop monitoring and for market access has improved sector efficiency. The popularity of organic and sustainable farming practices is due to the rising awareness from consumers and export opportunities. The mining sector, at the same time, has seen steady progress, as coal production ramps up to meet rising energy needs, and efforts to explore for the critical mineral, lithium and rare earths, pick up pace. Blue economy initiatives have thrived for the fisheries sector as marine exports continue to expand steadily. Nevertheless, ongoing dialogues on long term sustainability have occurred and remained within areas of concern to climate variability and resource management challenges.

India’s manufacturing sector has grown on its growth trajectory aided by PLI schemes across different sectors like EVs, semiconductors and pharmaceuticals. Favorable policies and growing demand of the consumers for electric vehicles have made India a global hub for EV manufacturing. Under 'Make in India,' investments have spurred innovation and FDI, in particular in technology driven sectors such as renewable energy equipment. Large scale infrastructure projects have driven construction activities to boom. Demands for steel, cement, etc., has increased with urbanization and production levels are at new highs. However, to maintain output, supply chain bottlenecks and energy price volatility have made it necessary for producers to be agile.
