The Journey so far
Incepted in 2007, IdeaNet Solutions Inc started offering structural drafting services to clients and slowly moved into the steel detailing, owing to the huge opportunities the company discovered in this segment. IdeaNet Solutions Inc started with Tekla version 16 and is now using the latest version Tekla 2020. The company also provides the drawings’ output in all versions of Tekla Structures.

Addressing the project challenges with the right solution
One of the clients of IdeaNet Solutions located in Newport News, Virginia approached the IdeaNet Solutions team for one of their projects for steel detailing services. However, the project had numerous challenges. Firstly, no field weld/ bolt was permitted for this project as it had to go inside a vessel and all assembling work was done in the shop and shipped as one single unit to the field. Secondly, there was no Architectural / Field survey service available for the project and the contract drawings had limited dimensions. Lastly, the project required high-level 3D work due to the geometry of the stair.
Perfectly understanding the aforementioned challenges of the project, IdeaNet Solutions Inc came up with a solution that addressed these challenges using the Tekla Software. IdeaNet prepared very detailed shop drawings with all relevant dimensions to construct the structure such as stairs, platforms, and rails together. Another challenge was the lack of dimensions in contract drawings. IdeaNet started 3D works with available dimensions as the IdeaNet team’s main concern was to follow standard safety dimensions for stairs within available dimensions.
Therefore, IdeaNet successfully met all standards and required dimensions, and the EOR approved all the arrangements that it prepared. Moreover, as the stair header was not parallel to the stair walk, it required a high-level 3D model work. The skilled professionals of IdeaNet through their R&D efforts found a solution to get this 3D work done. Hence, IdeaNet provided the client with the right solution that met all the requirements of the project.
