Aerospace design and manufacturing are undergoing a paradigm shift driven by efficiency oriented endeavors. Be it the reduction of aircraft weight through usage of ultra-light components or mitigation of environmental impact and enhancement of performance through effective MRO services, the sector is traversing an exponential curve of evolution. Striving to keep up with it, OEMs are increasingly seeking out aerospace engineering service providers for matters ranging from design & engineering to prototype development, manufacturing support and after-market services. Their primary expectation is of quicker turnaround in design and manufacturing, which can in turn lead to reduced cost of operations.
Fulfilling their expectation is Dynaspede, a 43-year-old firm which is well-poised to deliver the most sought after services of component design and product prototyping to reduce the lead time in aerospace manufacturing. The company possesses in-depth knowledge of Mechatronics which gives it an edge over control system, instrumentation, mechanical design and manufacturing, data acquisition, processing and associated software.
“Coupled with the knowledge of Mechatronics is a specialized and capable engineering team in which each member has an experience of over 25 years. The combination of the two makes us a very potent player in this field,” says Arijit Dutta Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer and President of the company.
Legacy Of Deep Expertise
Dynaspede has a legacy of working in the defence and aerospace sector with a steadfast focus on providing solutions for all the hardware including equipment to almost all the defence and aerospace labs in India including NAL, HAL etc. The company partners with the defence and aerospace labs for proving designs and providing prototypes. For instance, Dynaspede has partnered with DRDO to deliver the first indigenized dismantling, universal, technological version of trolleys for Brahmos. Another testament of its prowess in the field is the fact that it has partnered with Brahmos to deliver the Safe Arming Mechanism.
In addition, Dynaspede also caters to the industry in general for providing automation components like prime movers/drives, force and tensions measurement and controllers including magnetic particle brakes/clutches etc. It offers solutions to the auto¬motive industry for its testing and automation needs in terms of enhancing throughput.
The solutions span from providing end-of-line testing solutions, to component level testing to providing automation. “All the equipment designed and fabricated by Dynaspede is unique without any references from individual OEMs. Designs delivered to the OEMs are not reproduced for another. Hence, there is a high level of customization and learning through the process,” explains Arijit.
Going from strength to strength, Dynaspede is now looking to meet the custom requirements of automation of warehouses and industries. Its resolve of bringing about a change is evident from the fact that all of its systems and machines are
Industry 4.0 compliant. This is a proof of its dedication to keep itself updated and at par with evolving technology.
A Case In Point
Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL) has one of its major projects aimed at indigenization of the SU 30 aircraft. The project envisages development of several components for the aircraft which are safety critical. One such component is a cockpit safety valve. This in other words could be one of the most critical components in the aircraft which determines the equilibrium of chamber pressures at different altitudes and speeds at which the plane flies. While the component is being developed, the efficacy and accuracy of the component plays a major role in the making the program successful.
HAL after a global search and intensive diligence zeroed in on Dynaspede to develop the simulator to test the valve. It has been an extensive work done by Dynaspede under the aegis of HAL, Nasik and after several iterations of design and development; the simulator was created which could generate several of the high altitude conditions on the ground enabling the component and its attitude to be tested positively. This has been done by Dynaspede in cost conscious manner and while maintaining the highest standards of aviation production.
Similarly, Dynaspede has developed special simulators for the attitude testing of Rustom Unmanned Aerial Vehicle and has been successfully installed at ADE, Bangalore. These are unique simulators and have the best systems installed for optimum results. These have helped Dynaspede’s customers with indigenized solutions, with locally available support comfort and price to begin with.
“The variety of solutions that we have offered till date stands testimony to our claims. Be it the testing of an aircraft starter motor, generators, AMAGBs, brake pads, oil pumps, fuel dosing and metering systems, or pilot effort measurement dynamometers, high speed aviation grade bearing test system, CG – MI measurement concepts; the list is endless,” shares Arijit.
The Growth Journey
From a company with minor capabilities to design and manufacture tension control systems and eddy current drives, Dynaspede has come a long way to become one of the world class names when it comes to providing solutions to the defence and aerospace engineering sector. From components to designing complex and automated test solutions, Dynaspede is second to none in the industry globally.
Apart from its headquarters at Hosur, the company has 9 regional offices in India today. It has been continuously venturing into new areas of business and investing into expansion. It has recently started its global operations out of UAE. The team at Dynaspede comprises over 290 employees. The strongest among them is the design team which has a combined experience of 1000 years. “Some of our design engineers have grown into the ranks and stayed with Dynaspede spearheading its growth and design capabilities for over 20 years. They have been guiding the younger generation now to pick up the mantle of growth and work on newer areas,” says Arijit.
design ideas of building collapsible radars which can be mounted on mobile platforms and deployed at speed at different locations and terrains. The company is also working on providing drone based solutions and drone docking stations. Besides these, Dynaspede is making its foray into the space segment also by designing gyros, plasma thrusters and launchers for the suborbital satellites.
The Next Frontier
Simulation and testing are the next big areas creating a buzz in India. The global aerospace industry which has genuine risks and pressures of cost, shortage of skilled manpower resources, in addition to aging workforce, is turning to India for aerospace engineering services. Dynaspede is looking to set an example in this field and lead the way for Indian companies to devise solutions for these issues and challenges.
Our test solutions form the backbone for the successful implementation of many of the projects of Defence and Aerospace labs
With extensive expertise in mechatronics, the company is planning to do this by venturing into the space of developing state-of the-art simulators. “Our test solutions form the backbone for the successful implementation of many of the projects of Defence and Aerospace labs. Our solutions are essentially used to simulate several ground as well as air conditions for the final equipment to be tested. This is the only way to ensure complete reliability of the equipment which is being launched,” says Arijit.
With a strong foundation, Dynaspede is in an envious position to leverage its acquired knowledge to design and manufacture components that would go into the integration of the sophisticated equipment, which would either involve subsytems for aircrafts, missiles, unmanned ariel vehicles or support their operations.
