Under its Service Umbrella, there are a number of Feature Services which starts with Induction Brazing which is a process for joining similar or dissimilar metals using a filler metal using the precision heating of an RF induction heating unit. The filler metal is heated slightly above its melting point so it flows, but the temperature remains lower than the melting points of the base metals it
is joining.Flux or an inert atmosphere is used to protect the two metal surfaces being joined and the brazing material from oxidation during the heating process. The filler material melts and flows over the base metals, and the entire assembly is then cooled to join the pieces together. Second is Carbonitriding which is a metallurgical surface modification technique that is used to increase the surface hardness of a metal, thereby reducing wear.
During the process, atoms of carbon and nitrogen diffuse interstitially into the metal, creating barriers to slip, increasing the hardness and modulus near the surface. Next is Carburising which is a case hardening process that introduces carbon into a solid ferrous alloy.This is accomplished by heating the metal in a carbonaceous atmosphere above transformation temperature for a predetermined time. Subsequent to carburising, parts are quenched to harden the surface carburising layer.The core remains unaffected. Then is Nitrocarburizing which is a variation of the case hardening process.
It is a thermochemical diffusion process where nitrogen, carbon, and to a very small degree,oxygen atoms diffuse into the surface of the steel part,forming a compound layer at the surface, and a diffusion layer. Then is Tempering,which is a process of heat treating, which is used to increase the toughness of iron-based alloys.Tempering is usually performed after hardening, to reduce some of the excess hardness,and is done by heating the metal to some temperature below the critical point for a certain period of time,then allowing it to cool in still air.
Next is Plasma nitriding, which is an industrial surface hardening treatment for metallic materials. In plasma nitriding,the reactivity of the nitriding media is not due to the temperature but to the gas ionised state.Then there is Annealing which is a heat treatment process which alters the microstructure of a material to change its mechanical or electrical properties.
Typically,in steels, annealing is used to reduce hardness, increase ductility and help eliminate internal stresses.Eighth is Vacuum Hardening,a process in which metallic/steel parts are exposed completely or partially to time-temperature sequences in order to change the mechanical and/or corrosion properties. Ninth is Liquid Nitriding and the simplest form of this process is encompassed by the trademarked Melonite process, also known as Meli 1.It is most commonly used on steels, sintered irons, and cast irons to lower friction and improve wear and corrosion resistance. Tenth is Thermal Annealing which is an usual process used for intrinsic stress liberation, structural improving,and surface roughness control in materials.
In a qualitative way,annealing modifies the surface morphology of materials with temperature and time. Eleventh is Normalizing which aims to give the steel a uniform and fine-grained structure.The process is used to obtain a predictable microstructure and an assurance of the steel’s mechanical properties. Twelfth is Vacuum Brazing which is a high-end joining technology because it results in parts with extremely strong joints and with no residual corrosive flux.
It is a process in which two base metals, such as aluminium plates,are joined together using a filler metal that has a melting point below that of the base metal.Thirteenth is Quench Hardening which is a mechanical process in which steel and cast iron alloys are strengthened and hardened.These metals consist of ferrous metals and alloys. This is done by heating the material to a certain temperature, depending on the material. This produces a harder material by either surface hardening or through-hardening varying on the rate at which the material is cooled.Fourteenth is Stress Relieving which is applied to both ferrous and non-ferrous alloys and is intended to remove internal residual stresses generated by prior manufacturing processes such as machining,cold rolling and welding.
Without it,subsequent processing may give rise to unacceptable distortion and/or the material can suffer from service problems such as stress corrosion cracking. And lastly, there is Austempering which is an isothermal heat treatment that, when applied to ferrous materials,produces a structure that is stronger and tougher than comparable structures produced with conventional heat treatments.
