Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp. is looking for a replacement for Ramkumar Ramamoorthy (MD) after he announced his resignation just a week ago. He had spent and served as the Managing Director of the company for 23 years.
According to the sources, the firm will likely lookout and evaluate external candidates who have a strong understanding of Indian business and the emerging technologies, while strong corporate governance capability would also be the deciding factor.
Brian Humphries, chief executive, Cognizant, said in an internal email.“The new managing director will serve as the executive committee (EC) representative of our 200,000 associates in India and work with relevant Indian government agencies, chambers of commerce, universities, the media, and key policy-making bodies, including Nasscom.” However, Humphries has not specified a timeline but said that the lookout for a CMD will be expected to be completed in the coming months.
Furthermore, the four key factors that Humphries has been betting on to put Cognizant on the right growth track include IoT, digital engineering, Cloud, and data. Hence, it is likely that the new MD must have strong expertise over these technologies to fit the role of the new MD. The company has been seeing quite senior-level exits with global delivery head Pradeep Shilige also resigning after 24 years of services. Though he will be with the company till the 30th of September to ensure a smooth transition.
Also, the spokesperson of the company has said that they are not certain that the role would be filled by someone within the company or an external candidate.
