Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs) are infections that people may catch when they are receiving care in a hospital. All healthcare facilities should have infection prevention & control procedures and policies, and staff should take every precaution to avoid occurrence of HAI. Many types of infection can be picked up during healthcare including wound, bloodstream, urinary tract etc. If a person is admitted to a hospital, he/ she is at a risk of contracting Hospital Acquired Infection. This risk increases in case of patients who are more vulnerable such as premature babies, elderly people, and people with comorbidities.
