The forging industry of India has been greatly influenced by the growth of various sectors such as the EV. There are other industries that are undergoing changes in terms of technology thereby creating demands for newer forging products and solutions. Especially, after the pandemic, there has been a major decline in the Chinese forging industry that has given way for the Indian companies not only to grow business in the country but also to cater to the demands globally. However, no matter the manufacturer, clients always require perfect quality of the product along with pricing that fits their budget. This is where Vikas Forgings has been making a mark since the year of 1976. The company has crossed all hurdles of time and seasoned itself according to the changing needs of the business ecosystem.
The company was started in 1976 but it was in 2012 when Chaman Lal Kakar, a veteran in the forging industry along with his two Sons Mohit and Vivek Kakar took over the company as directors. Until then, Vikas Forgings had a standing reputation in the market which was deeply nurtured by the new management and as it stands, the company is 35 times what it was before 2012. "We are now executing 1000 tonnes a month. We have built a trusted clientele which consists of OEMs and various native companies from Tier 1 cities in agriculture, automobile, heavy commercial vehicles, earth moving and railway sectors.
Vikas Forgings' range of components varies from 350 grams to 40 kilograms. It makes rounds as well as varying other profiles such as shaft, balancer, fork, tie rod, flanges, and others", states Mohit Kakar, Director, Vikas Forgings.
Eyes on Excellence
All its forging machines are accompanied by induction heaters and three ways accept and reject system. The company offers scale-free forgings and has the ability to produce varied types of components. It has the freedom of over-heat and under-heat forgings which means the elimination of temperature-induced internal forging cracks. “Our CQI-9 certified heat treatment plant runs on Piped Natural Gas (PNG). It has a monthly capacity of 1000 tons and can perform Normalizing, Hardening & Tempering, and ISO Annealing. With a data logger, we are able to monitor real-time process control, giving consistent microstructure quality & hardness within a specified range. The ancillary setup consists of Brinell Hardness Tester with Image Analyzer, Shot Blasting, Grinding, 400-tons Knuckle Joint coining press”, mentions Vivek Kakar, Director.

Vikas Forgings has deep confidence in the quality of material that it delivers. The company works in a pollution-free environment with all the possible heat treatment operations in house. It is able to manage the process flow in a better manner that results in improved flow time and provides consistent heat treatment quality because of the CQI-9 and Data Logger.
Looking at the Future
The company is currently investing a lot in R&D because of the increasing global demand for newer kinds of forgings products. Since 2012, Vikas Forgings has been in a mode of aggressive expansion which is still continuing. After taking over the company, the Kakar family has completely changed the business operations compared to what they had been. “We want to have a 300 crores turnover by the end of 2026 and have more than 25 percent of the manufacturing and supply in the export unit. We are also in the process of starting another manufacturing capacity which will take our forging capacity from 1000 tons to 3000 tons and take our machining capacity from 70 CNC/VMCs to 300 Machines by 2026”, concludes Vivek
