In the sugar season 2021-22, India produced around 36 million tonnes of sugar, which was higher than the previous year's production of around 31 million tonnes. Triveni’s core strength is its sugar business, which has shown impressive growth and performance in recent quarters. The company crushed 3.12 million tonnes of sugarcane in Q3 FY 23, marking a 25.3 percent increase over the previous year. “The growth can be ascribed to the capital spent at three of our factories on modernization and debottlenecking. 135,000 tonnes of sugar were exported, including the sale of a quota of 73,000 tonnes at profitable prices. Triveni is optimistic about the future, expecting higher production and profitability in the sugar business with a larger portfolio of refined sugar, including pharmaceutical-grade sugar. They plan to expand ethanol capacity and increase production by diverting 12 percent of sugar to ethanol by 2025. In the Power Transmission business, they will focus on domestic high-speed gears, aftermarket business, and participate in 'Make in India' projects. The Defence segment is expected to receive strong orders in propulsion shafting and other areas.
