Products manufactured by SMPP are globally recognized for their excellence and have diverse applications like use in the armoring of aircraft, helicopters, Land and Naval platforms, lightweight body armor, and much more. The company also has a vertical on ammunition and has successfully delivered over 500,000 combustible cartridge cases of artillery guns, tanks, and mortars for the Indian army.
SMPP’s flagship product is the Bullet Proofing Protection gears that the company manufactures. In addition to this, SMPP is also renowned as one of the biggest manufacturers of Ballistic Protection products across the world. The firm is one among the only five companies globally that manufactures ceramics of the most advanced category from Boron Carbide which is used for the protection of soldiers as well as for the armoring of Land, Aerial, and Sea weapon platforms.
“SMPP has supplied 1,86,138 Bullet Proof Jackets to the Indian Army in a single contract and these are being used by our troops, actively engaged in Counter Insurgency operations along the Northern and Eastern borders since the last three years and till now, not a single bullet of our adversaries has ever penetrated any of our Ballistic plates within the Jackets. SMPP is also the only company in India that produces high-modulus polyethylene fibers (HMPF). The company’s drive for being the best in “protecting those that protest the nation” has also resulted in the firm achieving the contract of Armoring the Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) and Light Utility Helicopters (LUH) being manufactured by the HAL. SMPP is the only Indian company to be issued with a BIS certification for its Ballistic products.

Future Roadmap
“Due to the remarkable impact that the company has made, SMPP has been the recipient of three National awards for their contributions to Defense R&D. First award was for the ‘Indigenization of Defense Stores’ in the year 1998, second was the ‘Defense Technology Award’ in 2018, and third was for ‘Defense Innovations’ in the year 2021. All three from the Ministry of Defense, Government of India, and were awarded by the three different Defense Ministers of India”, further shares Ashish Kansal. Keeping this demeanor, the firm has elaborate plans for expansion in the coming years, focusing on two core products including the armoring of aerial assets and ammunition manufacturing for the Artillery, Tanks, and Infantry weapons.
