The technical textiles market is poised for robust growth, projected to exceed $202.93 billion by 2023, with a CAGR of 6.7 percent. India's flourishing potential in this sector is evident, backed by government initiatives like 'Make in India' and quality control measures on raw materials. Shubh Swasan, a pioneering player since 2001, has significantly contributed to this landscape. From coating to lamination/bonding and cutting-edge specialized insulations for extreme cold garments, Shubh Swasan stands out with its versatile infrastructure.
A pioneer in hot melt adhesive powders since 1994, Swasan Group has emerged as a leading manufacturer of thermoplastic powders and specialty films in South Asia. This legacy of expertise led to the inception of Shubh Swasan, venturing into thermoplastic-to-Interlinings for the garments and shoes industry. The company’s commitment to innovation extended to specialized coating and lamination processes, facilitating the supply of laminated and coated fabrics for armed forces ECC jackets and the development of extreme cold weather sleeping bags for the Army, amongst other sectors. Utilizing cutting-edge European technology, known as TRP, Shubh Swasan achieves precise adhesive coating on fabrics and non-wovens.
“At Shubh Swasan, we are passionate about working with solutions in textiles. Our team is highly experienced in identifying issues and working innovatively in creating products that can resolve issues. In the process, innovative products are being developed. We call this process- miracles with textiles”, shares Krishna Kumar Baheti, MD & Technical Director.
One such innovative product that has come out of Shubh Swasan’s creative drive is stretch leather, a revolutionary innovation involving the precise splitting and bonding of leather skin with tissue for enhanced stretch and resilience in fashion pants and jackets. This distinctive technique demands meticulous splitting and robust bonding to prevent delamination during dyeing, finishing, and washing processes, making it a standout offering for export garments.
Addressing the demand for lightweight yet warm winter clothing, Shubh Swasan has further pioneered a unique approach to insulation technology by harnessing micro-fibers and production processes that create countless air pockets within synthetic, akin to down feathers. These micro-fibers are bonded using ultrasonic waves, eliminating the need for chemicals or thermal treatments and enhancing both warmth and comfort.
This innovative product named LOFTHERM, revolutionized sleeping bags for the Armed Forces. These bags, originally weighing around 5 kgs for -10°C conditions, were transformed using LOFTHERM to weigh just approximately 2 kgs for -20°C. Shubh Swasan's collaboration with Dupont Sorona and other speciality fiber manufacturers also led to the development of the -50°C sleeping Bag, being one of the first to develop this locally as against imports from Europe. This ingenious insulation has garnered recognition from global brands like Inditex, Levis, Armani, Hugo Boss, and more.
Future Roadmap
“We look at developing localized solutions for products that are imported and then work to create export opportunities. With Make in India, a big thrust by the Government to support & develop technical textiles, we hope to leverage our strengths on the product range & enhance our capacities even more in the coming years”, further adds Kirti Baheti, Co-MD & Finance Director.
Swasan Group is dedicated to offering distinctive products while localizing imported items within its domain. In the coming years, the company envisions expanding its current product lines and introducing innovative offerings in thermoplastic powders, interlinings, insulations, and films. Moreover, Swasan Group is actively engaged in discussions for partnerships with companies seeking to enter the Indian market with similar product ranges. Leveraging its robust infrastructure and market influence, the firm is poised to develop and promote these products effectively within local markets, enhancing profitability, recognition, and position in the industry.
