Today, India is the world’s second-largest steel producer. Due to environmental issues, the production of steel in China has reduced, leading to reduced imports of steel in India from China. To take the country's steel consumption close to the NSP target of 160 kg per capita in FY2031, the domestic steel demand would need to grow at a CAGR of 9 percent in the coming years.
Established in 1942 by the visionary Late Seth Gordhan Das Rathi, Shri Rathi Steel Group (a part of the RATHI GROUP of Delhi) is a leading steel and TMT bars manufacturer in India. With over 80 years of experience, the company, currently headed by Anil Rathi (the youngest son of Late Seth Gordhan Das Rathi), has been an industry pioneer, committed to quality, integrity, honesty, and growth, as envisioned and guided by the founder.
The Rathi Group is India's oldest producer of building steel and was founded during a period of unrest in India. From a daily production capacity of just 369 kgs in 1942, today the RATHI Group has grown into a Steel Giant, with an estimated sales of 21,00,000 MT of TMT bars annually. Shri Rathi Steel Group founded in 2003, has successfully built two cutting-edge production facilities in North India with installed capacities of 4,80,000 metric tons of TMT bars annually, which is one of the biggest in the region.
The company also obtained Process Technology rights from TEMPCORE, Centre De Recherches Metallurgiques (CRM), Belgium, and has been given permission by CRM to use the TEMPCORE Trade Name on steel rebars.
Additionally, HEEP&P (Human Engineering for Environmental Products and Production), a German company, has provided technical support to Shri Rathi Group. Additionally, the company has received various Global Quality Certifications for Process and Products accreditation.
“Our state of the art computer controlled production process monitors each TMT bar on a millisecond basis, thereby ensuring consistent quality. Additionally, our detailed and system driven quality control process has numerous checks and balances, which make sure that only TMT bars confirming to BIS standards are dispatched to the client”, shares Anil Rathi.
The company's SCADA-based Re-heating furnace automation technology ensures uniform heating, which is critical for consistent strength and elongation. One of the most important distinguishing features of the company's products is that the 7 STAR Fe600 Grade TMT bars produced by Shri Rathi Steel Group can help reduce steel usage by around 20 percent when compared to the typical Fe-415 grade TMT bars. Additionally, SHRI RATHI GROUP’s unique concept of EXTRA LONG TMT Bars (up to 100 feet) can reduce TMT bar consumption by upto 21 percent by eliminating wastage caused by scrap formation and preventing overlapping in cases of extended spans.
Future Roadmap
After the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, approved the NSP, 2017, the steel sector in India is on track to meet its target production of 160 kg per person by 2030. Major firms in this industry have greater opportunity to develop and grow owing to this aim.
Shri Rathi Steel Group, following the rich legacy has been gearing up to become the perfect steel artisan. The Group has already started the process of establishing a 3,60,000 metric ton per year, state-of-the-art billet facility in its Ghaziabad-based unit.
With our unique concept of EXTRA LONG TMT bars, customers can execute their projects faster and can also save upto 21 percent in their consumption of TMT bars
As part of the group’s endeavor to offer innovative products and cutting edge technologies to the construction industry, an MOU has already been signed with a European company to provide technological support for a revolutionary product, which will reduce the overall construction cost in a project by up to 10 percent.
By 2030, the group also intends to build a fully integrated steel plant with an annual capacity of one million metric tons, and introduce further cutting-edge products and technologies to assist in lowering the cost of construction per square foot, which will be advantageous to the whole country.
