The size of rubber products industry in India is estimated at rupees 75,000 crore and is dominated by the small-scale sector. Around 90 per cent of the 6,000 plus rubber products manufacturing units in the country are micro, small and medium enterprises (msmes) and they account for 40 per cent of the rubber products exports. Some companies operating in the market are specialized in compounding rubber according to the specifications of customers to develop novel products.
Market report says, “70 percent of the total rubber production in India is in the form of Ribbed Smoked Sheets (RSS) but in the last few years non-tire rubber products have also gained popularity from their ever increasing use in a wide variety of end-user industries with using synthetic Rubber polymersnr (40 percent needs to be imported), SBR and NBR (styrene-butadiene rubber and nitrile butadiene rubber) (40 percent needs to be imported) silicone rubber, EPDM polychloroprene (100 percent import). Hence, the development of novel products is expected to create immense growth opportunities for the market." Rubber products find applications in various industries such as packaging, manufacturing, engineering, machinery and construction. The rising demand from the automotive industry for tire and non-tire applications is also among the key rubber market trends. Additionally, its properties such as weather resistance, insulation property and flexibility increase its usage in industrial applications including transmission belts, elevators, Gaskets & Seals. Clients want cheaper rubber products as compared to China which is quite difficult as for most of the raw materials are still being imported from china we are still dependent on it which
make the products developed costlier. Also, today majority of consumers are looking for companies which are specialized in customizing rubber according to their specifications to develop novel products and end to end solutions in one place.
