Established in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Poseidon Biotech is a partnership firm engaged as the manufacturer and exporter of agricultural and aquaculture probiotics, immunostimulants and feed supplement, disinfectants and many more. It has become the leading corporate entity, highly preferred for offering the best products available to customers in all the maritime states and a few landlocked states of India. Poseidon exports 10-15 percent of its products to Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Madagascar, and Iran.
Poseidon Biotech was an offshoot of its parent company Poseidon Aquatech, an Aquaculture consultancy company started in the year 1995 by two Technocrats namely R Srinivasan and S. Muthukaruppan, two postgraduates from the field of Aquaculture who have been in the field of shrimp aquaculture all through their career. The parent company understood the requirement of introducing biotechnology to augment production in aquaculture systems and commenced its research and trials in the year 1999.
Smaller trials and trading of biotechnology products lead to the formation of an independent unit, Poseidon Biotech in 2004. Starting from a small entity, Poseidon is now a fully-grown biotechnology company with other offshoot companies in the name and style, Microbasia and Poseidon Enterprises. The parent company Poseidon Aquatech is now renamed as Poseidon
Formulations and is working on other areas of Biotechnology needs, viz, Veterinary, Cattle, Poultry, Enzymes, Super foods and Neutraceuticals.
In-house Certified R&D
Research and development have always been the key to innovation in the Biotech industry. Poseidon has gained rich expertise and stays ahead in innovative strategies to constantly upgrade the products and provide them in India and abroad. The in-house R&D originally was recognized by DSIR (Department of Science & Industrial Research), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, New Delhi.
“We have maintained a Hi-tech infrastructure unit at our site area. This infrastructure unit has well facilitated with unique production machinery. At our manufacturing department, we use these machines in an efficient manner to manufacture several ranges of products. We have a trained team for the maintenance and upgradation of our manufacturing machines”, says S. Muthukaruppan, CEO, Poseidon Biotech.

Innovations
Poseidon Biotech has successfully made innovative products in the field of Bioremediation. Bioremediation is a biotechnical process, which abates or cleans up contamination. It is a type of waste management technique that involves the use of organisms to remove or utilize the biological waste and save the system from pollution. With the help of the process, Poseidon helped in converting palm oil mill effluent into compost in Malaysia and Indonesia, being their first ventures out of the country. Similarly Poseidon has done trials to compost kitchen waste of hotels too in and around Goa.
Poseidon is associated with the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, and other well-known institutions like Anna University and Madras University for strengthening their Research & Development base. Poseidon Biotech has also initiated the process to produce and launch a few products needed in the field of Agriculture that shall be launched very soon.
