India has tremendous potential for growth and capacity building in catering to the evergreen domestic and international casting supply market. The major factor driving the market is the self-reliance of the Indian industry since sufficient resources are available locally with power and human resources are the keys to the industry's growth. Mehtex Engineering (MEPL), founded by Yashwant Mehta in 1981, is a castings manufacturer based in Naroda GIDC, Ahmedabad, offering various die castings for multiple industrial uses.
Challenges are specific to the user industries; while the automotive industry has its volume and quality issues, the other industries have expectations of low volume with the under-one-roof solution based approach. Customers are looking for suppliers with valueadded services with a complete in-house testing lab, machine shop, and final assembly. MEPL incorporated this concept in 2007 and has developed complete solutions under one roof ranging from designing to final products for the customers. The company began with a vision to serve the textile machinery industry and has now diversified into the pump, automotive, lighting, railway supplies, exports, defense supplies, and many more, made possible by continuously upgrading machines and technology.
With ever expanding export markets, MEPL believes India and MEPL are placed very well to cater to customer specific requirements.
Certified Manufacturer with a Customer-centric Approach
MEPL is an ISO 9001 2015 certified company manufacturing aluminium gravity die and pressure die casting, dies and molds, machine components, and assemblies per customers' requirements. It has an in-house design department, die tool room, VMC and CNC facilities, drop bottom heat treatment furnaces, shot blasting, and Vibrofinish machines. The firm also has conventional machines for drilling, tapping, and proof machining. “MEPL has installed automation equipment and robots in the last decade to reduce the workforce and provide consistent quality castings. We are committed to giving the best economical solution to the industry”, shares Deepesh Mehta, CEO, MEPL.
MEPL follows a customer centric approach to receiving an RFQ from clients, and it analyses the end application and forecasts product life along with its price quote. It recommends changes that might help make the product more economical and qualitatively better to compete in the domestic and international markets. Under its Total Quality Management Systems (TQMS), each part undergoes testing, dimensional checking, and working conditions, passing which they are then supplied to customers. With a workforce of 100+ employees, team building is the foundation of MEPL, emphasizing the employees' training needs and motivating them to do their best in the workplace. Starting with 250 sq. ft of land 30 years ago, MEPL now has a total of 88000 sq. ft of constructed land and an annual turnover of INR 30 Cr. The company is well placed in the domestic and international markets, currently exporting castings to Qatar, Kuwait, Ireland, Australia, and the USA.

MEPL focuses on growth rather than becoming number one in the industry and improving over time. Its customer-centric approach has resulted in 100% customer satisfaction and 20% YOY growth. All markets, domestic or international, are headed north, and MEPL's roadmap for the next three years is to cater to castings and finish assemblies, forging moldings, and mechanical parts. Its technical expertise, rich knowledge, and experience in aluminum castings will be the key driving force in achieving its objective of becoming a 100 Cr. (1 Billion) Company by 2026.
