The need for liquid and gaseous fuel for transportation application is growing very fast. This high consumption trend causes swift exhaustion of fossil fuel reserves as well as severe environment pollution. In 2019-20, over 85% of petroleum products was met with imports in India and a study published in “Biomass as an alternative for Fuel Production”, stated that of the 254 Million tons of oil equivalent, 54 % accounts for biomass itself.
In the future, Bio-CNG can be a promising candidate as vehicle fuel in replacement of conventional fuel to resolve this problem. The current consumption of petroleum based products stands at 141 million metric tons in the year 2021 and the potential usage of Bio-CNG stands at less than 2.5%.
This is where Meera Clean Fuels Limited is making a difference. The firm is already developing more than 225 Bio-CNG manufacturing plants from napier grass as biomass. Prachi Dhole, Executive Director, Meera Clean Fuels (MCL), states, “At MCL, our main initiative is to make India self-sufficient in fuel. To attain this, we have developed a very simple and straightforward mindset to install a manufacturing unit in each of 5564 Talukas of India.”
The Growth Story
Incorporated in 2012, MCL’s main objective is to manufacture sustainable clean fuels from non- food feedstock like jatropha, algae, biomass and waste. Currently, the firm manufactures two key byproducts from waste sources – bio methane and organic fertilizers. “Under the guidance of Dr. Sham Gholap, we had started our journey as an advisory firm, witnessing rapid growth throughout the years. Today, we have our own commercial unit with capacity of 60 TPD of bio-CNG,” points out Prachi.
MCL is already taking steps to develop commercial prototypes at different sources. For example, the firm has developed a prototype at Kolad, Raigarh, Maharashtra, where the capacity is more than 60 TPD of Bio-CNG. Furthermore, the firm is setting up more than 225 manufacturing units in different regions of the country with a capacity of 100 TPD. In every manufacturing unit, MCL has implemented advanced technologies to enable the optimum outcome from each unit.
Experienced Workforce
MCL has intelligently set up its workforce, wherein it has employed highly skilled and energetic workforce to initiate every project in the stipulated manner and also to ensure the optimum operability of every unit. Additionally, the management team of Meera Clean Fuels is the key to its success. The firm's management includes Meera Shivaji Gholap, Dr. Lavesh Jadhav, Prachi Dhole, who with their extensive knowledge in the biofuel industry are intelligently directing the firm towards a robust future.

The Future Outlook
With a vision to direct India towards a sustainable future, Meera Clean Fuels wants to develop itself as the biggest Bio-CNG manufacturer in India. In the future, the firm envisions establishing its bio-CNG manufacturing unit in every talukas of India to propel the sustainable initiative in the nation.
