The precision machine components industry within India, and overseas, is rapidly expanding as a result of the explosive growth of other sectors. Expected industry growth through 2030 is forecasted at around 9-10 percent CAGR. Precision machine components play a significant role in a diverse array of industries including automotive, healthcare, shaving blade, aerospace, defense, robotics, food and more. As such, with the development and growth of these sectors, the demand for accurate precision machine components too increases. The industry is also undergoing advancement with the emergence of CNCs, and integration of smart technologies like AI, IoT, 3D, and more, into the manufacturing processes. With these advancements, the scope for enhancement and growth of this sector is immense.
However, clients continue to face challenges with procuring the right precision components, and finding the right manufacturers that fulfill their needs. There remains an inadequacy in the availability of qualified manufacturers possessing the capabilities and abilities to provide components that meet the required standards, specifications, and cost-efficiency. This is where the NCR based Haasan Toolings (formerly EMT and a subsidiary of Electroplast Mac Tools) comes to the rescue. Established in 1985, the establishment grew from humble beginnings to become a name synonymous with exceptionally created precision components.
Ashemu Azad Kasturi,CEO
Haasan Toolings (formerly EMT) founded by Abdul Kalam Azad, after resigning from a public Ltd Company (Central Electronics) stands out as a pioneering venture offering a unique range of precision components useful for diversified applications. The firm grew massively in its first five to ten years from a small entity functioning with one vertical milling, lathe, surface grinder, and its minimum accessories into a giant firm equipped with a dedicated tool room as well as production unit complete with an advanced inspection department and has continued to expand across business verticals. Today, the establishment is being led by his son Ashemu Azad, a B.Tech. (Mechanical) rank holder who brings in his international experience too to advance the firm to its next phase of growth.
The firm’s current lines of manufacture encompass precision spares and components, tools, power press dies, powder compaction tools, fixtures, jigs, inspection toolings, die casting tools, special purpose machines for shaving blade, automobile, ferrite, ceramic, and other allied industries. The firm with its manufacturing expertise has developed import substitutes for leading companies like P&G, Yamaha Motors, Gillette India, Central Electronics, Osram and several more.
'We manufacture highly critical and sophisticated soft, hardened, and tungsten carbide brazed spare parts with close tolerances and controlled physical properties, using both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Our products meet the satisfaction of global leaders. We produce components in any shape and style, achieving micron accuracy, shares Ashemu.
Manufacturing Expertise
The process undertaken by Haasan Toolings, for manufacturing high quality products that are in compliance with international standards, while also being cost-efficient is quite comprehensive.
The process starts with the procurement of the right raw materials needed to manufacture the goods. Although the firm procures materials as per set standards, it also adopts a flexible approach of sourcing materials based on the product specifications needed by clients.
This procedure is followed by the machining process wherein machines such as wire-cutting, CNCs, automated machines, EDM machines, grinding machines, and more, come into play. These highly sophisticated machines help transform the materials into the desired form which then undergoes the treatment phase. The treatment phase, also termed as the heat treatment phase, is a critical step in the precision component manufacturing process for ferrous components. This process is conducted to ensure the correct chemical properties from the materials are achieved. Thereafter, depending on the component and material plenty of treatments being done as per requirements of the end user.
“Surface treatment is a crucial step in processing certain components, including applying coatings to products. Both ferrous and non-ferrous materials, depending on their practical applications, undergo treatments such as electroplating, nickel plating, and hard-chrome plating. For instance, products used in humid environments must resist deterioration for extended periods. Some parts need hard-chrome plating to enhance wear resistance. These factors are vital during the manufacturing process, which is why we customize products from the outset based on client requirements and their intended use”, further shares Ashemu.
With the aim of meeting client needs, the company also integrates design and engineering processes as needed, wherein based on the purpose and specifications, dedicated teams provide product designs, and the products are engineered into customized specifications to perform exactly as needed. The firm also employs digital tools like CAD/CAM during these processes as per the need of the project at hand.

Quality Control Systems
Throughout the manufacturing process of the products and the quality assurance measures are continually integrated by Haasan Toolings to ensure at every step that the products are being manufactured in strict adherence to the industry standards, as well as client requirements. The firm has implemented and stringently follows a comprehensive QMS process, aligned with ISO 9001 standards.
Some measures taken by Haasan Toolings for quality assurance include documentation of all critical procedures as well as setting of detailed instructional literature for critical components to eliminate the chances of errors. The firm practices very strict and vigorous inspection and testing measures in a dedicated quality control room.
“We follow a 3-layer process, the first quality control comes into effect with the incoming raw material, ensuring the material specifications are aligned with our needs so that we have the desired result. Thereafter, during the manufacturing processes we conduct inspections throughout the process at each stage of the progress. Finally, we conduct quality inspection to check for sizes on the final products and also even test to simulate the real-world environment. For instance, we do the salt spray test which is an accelerated corrosive attack in order to better predict how well the coating protects the metal in humid & salty environment”, further adds Ashemu, CEO.
During the quality inspections, the firm does not stop at just checking the quality of the products, but also their size and other specifications to ensure they meet the desired parameters. The company, with its robust R&D capabilities, is also working towards finding Lean manufacturing methods that increases efficiency of production, minimize wastage during manufacturing, and help enhance the product quality, thereby increasing cost-effectiveness. These strategies are also aimed at enhancing sustainability initiatives.
With exceptional capabilities, a targeted approach towards advancing, a legacy for delivering excellence, and a vision to lead the industry, Haasan Toolings has carved a distinctive niche for itself in the industry, and is poised to strategically achieve its future goals as well.
The road ahead for Haasan Toolings is one of continued growth and innovation. With a strong foundation built over decades of dedication to quality and excellence, the aim to expand the market presence, enhance product offerings, embrace digital adoption and further solidify the position as a leader in the precision component manufacturing segment.
“We have always engaged in meaningful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to contribute positively to society & communities at large. While we look for growth – our main area of focus is sustainability initiatives, to bring down our carbon footprints significantly by promoting renewable energy”, concludes Abdul Kalam Azad, Founder and Tooling Specialist.
