The industrial transmission market size is expected to grow at a rapid pace. Various governments worldwide have imposed pollution control regulations which have forced manufacturers to have appropriate components for emission control. This has given rise to the demand for components across the world. When it comes to India, components have mostly been imported until now from manufacturers in China or other countries. However, native industrial manufacturers face trouble while importing components. First problem is the delay in delivery. It takes almost 1.5-2 months for an order to reach the client and there are logistics charges that also need to be paid.
But the market scenario is changing slowly but steadily. The post pandemic situation has not only seen the emergence of new manufacturers in this domain, but also has strengthened the already established manufacturers of the country. Dullabh Commercials from Mumbai is one of those established companies that are trying to gain more market share and lessen the country’s dependency on imports regarding components.
Being in this domain since 1960, Dullabh Commercials has been a witness to the changing requirements of the industry and is ready for future developments as well.
The Growth Story
Established in 1960, Dullabh Commercials worked under a small setup in Mumbai until 1983. With the huge growth in demand for components, the company then expanded its product line and brought in the required auto components that could fulfil the need of the market. Kishore Mistry, MD, Dullabh Commercials states, “Our first cardan shaft rolled out in 1985 and was supplied to a Mumbai based client. Having deployed a 1.5 tonned forging hammer, we have a total of 33 employees at our plant currently. We are in the process of manufacturing 800 units every year which has been a great achievement for us”.
The company started off with its own export unit in the year of 2005 to a few African and European countries. And it was after 2009, that they also started exporting to countries in the Middle East. Speaking about the range of products the Dullabh currently manufactures, there are 36 variants of cardan shafts alone along with other components like universal joints. Raj Mistry, Director mentions, “The price range at which we can provide material to the clients is much less than what is incurred on imports. We try our best to maintain premium quality in our products and our engineering team is always working to come up with new ideas that can add to the overall value of the industry”.

Looking at the Future
The company is well aware of the recent trends in the market and is already investing resources in product development. They have already started R&D for light weight auto components that are implementable to the EV industry. Raj concludes, “Composite drive shafts are in growing demand globally. So, we can understand that the export market for it is very high. We are trying to tap into that demand and gain considerable market share in coming years. Added to this, we also want to increase our manufacturing capacity from 800 units to 1200 units annually”.
