With an annual production of castings valued at USD 16 billion, India produces approximately 11.5 MMT of castings and is the second-largest manufacturer in the world, following China. Given the volatile geo-political movement and a desire for diversifying the supply chain, which was earlier skewed in China’s favor, the Indian castings market is predicted to grow at a CAGR of 10-12% in the coming years.
In the global casting market, India stands at a very intriguing and advantageous crossroads as one of the few industries where MSMEs dominate the majority of production. Strong governmental focus to enable ease of doing business, a comprehensive and nurturing financing system, and improving technical capabilities of industry players present numerous avenues for the enhancement of the industry.
