There has always been an immense potential for the defense market in India. It has been in the last 6-7 years that the drive to ensure domestic companies to partake in this segment more actively has come into play and several initiatives such as 'Aatma Nirbhar Bharat' are classic examples of trends towards a positive direction for home grown companies to design, develop and adapt to the Indian Defense forces requirements.
Visible change in war capabilities for both conventional warfare and special operations near and far from our borders has changed the threat perception and this has made it pertinent to defend the nation from both internal & external threats and these are major contributory factors for defense as a segment to grow. Counter Measures Technologies one of the companies in this segment that is licensed to manufacture of small arms & ammunition and has established itself as a premium quality product provider. The company manufactures Pistols, Assault Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Medium Machine Guns & "Light Guns" of every caliber that fall under small arms segment.
All firearms that the company builds exceeds the
expectations of the Governmental end users as there is no margin for error or cutting corners to reduce cost (which results in reducing tolerances) of the firearms we build. “Any compromise on the firearms due to any reason will certainly result in mission failures and potentially lead to loss of our end user precious life, so we take this part extremely serious in ensuring that our firearms perform every single time it leaves our factory”, mentions Jayakumar Jayarajan, Founder, Counter Measures Technologies.

Looking at the Future
The road from CMT’s inception up to today has been extremely challenging. It began to do the spade work to be a part of 'Make-in-India' from the time of its inception and working towards the goal of setting up its manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu. “Our proposed plan for the near future is to export to Sovereign nations in Southeast Asia. The Govt. has been extremely active in promoting export from India which gives us an opportunity to explore markets nearby”, concludes Jayakumar.
