Globally, the switchgear market size was $105.43 billion in 2019. It is expected to reach $170.40 billion by 2027. In India, the progressive development for delivering electricity in rural areas and the growth of the construction industry are the key trends that have been influencing the ‘need’ for Switchgear-based businesses. Himachal Pradesh-based Axiom Controls Private Limited is an example of a leading business that has been leveraging this growth by developing switchgear products supplied to some of the most prominent names in the electrical industry.
The company has its legacy carried on from VEECO group, India’s premier manufacturer of control panel accessories, which made its modest beginning in the year 1976 at Mohali, Punjab under the able leadership of its founder Late Sh. Pardeep Gupta. “The word “Axiom’’ means self-evident truth and since its inception, the company has been endeavoring to live up to its name and long-cherished goals,” says Abhinav Gupta, Managing Director at Axiom Controls Private Limited.
In its initial days, the company started off with the production of Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCB) & Isolators that offer overall protection to electrical installation from sustained overload and short-circuit. Within a span of a few years, the company felt the need to expand its product portfolio and added allied products such as Residual Current Circuit Breakers (RCCB), Two way Centre Off Changeover Switch, and an additional range of Distribution Boards (DB).
In 2007, Axiom got its first major client - Wipro for which the company was associated for 9 long years in terms of third-party manufacturing of switchgear products. Over the years, Axiom proved its mettle and went on to become one of the most sought out names in the field of contract (Third-Party) manufacturing of LV switchgear which is evident from the long list of clients like Great White, SSK, Anchor-Panasonic, Finolex, Polycab, Microtek just to name a few. In the year 2015, the company expanded its production setup and also started the production of all types of low voltage Distribution Boards (DB) which have been well accepted by the industry.
The company’s presence in the industry for decades has helped it receive trust and recognition from both Industry leaders & its customers alike. Axiom products are chosen across varying market segments not only in India but also across 5 overseas destinations. The company has invested substantially to realize its goal of supplying quality products at competitive pricing compared to the best in the field.
“We at “AXIOM” are committed to manufacture and supply quality products to the complete satisfaction of our customers. Such Quality is delivered with customer focus, regular training of employees and by adopting continual improvement in processes,” adds Abhinav. Axiom remains at the threshold of cutting-edge technology and creates path-breaking solutions to meet the needs of its discerning clients.

Speaking about a challenge that has, for the longest time, been a deterrent to the electrical industry, Abhinav explained how most of the electricians in India that are used by households or even by Industries in some cases remain untrained. He believes that there is a growing need to properly train independent electricians so they are able to rightly use the products that are available in the market. According to him, there is a requirement of a system where these electricians are trained in Govt or Private institutions, and only certified electricians are allowed to operate.
Also talking about the future plans for the company, Abhinav said that “We foresee great potential in manufacturing & supply of low voltage DB’s and have taken immediate steps to enhance our production capacity by a minimum of 30 percent with an aim of getting more clients on board. In near future, we are also exploring the idea of venturing into manufacturing fullfledged electrical panels for industry application,” concludes Abhinav.
