research and development functions. In order to make their team strong and well-equipped Astra has teamed up with the engineers from multiple fields. Vaibhav Agarwal, GM, states, “We have highly skilled engineers and scientists working together to support Indian S&D. Our combined strength is 1100+ consisting of 450+ designers and 400+ technicians. Our teams comprise of engineers from different disciplines – RF, Microwaves, Digital, DSP, Mechanical etc. This helps us understand the project / client requirement thoroughly and adequately, which in turn helps us exceed customer expectations.”
Mr. Reddy has also added that Astra have been very cautious and has produced step by step development in team building and expanding their portfolio. Their R&D team being the core strength for the company has helped Astra develop a strong presence in the national as well as the global market. He added, “We have built a state-of-the-art in-house manufacturing & testing facility, including Environment & EMI/EMC test facilities. We are the only private player in India to have established such a facility in-house. We have highly skilled & trained manpower certified by ISRO & other agencies to take up manufacturing & testing of aerospace components. In addition, we are the largest MMIC Design House in India.”

Future Roadmap
With its robust strategic and leadership decision making Astra has been able to gain a good position in this industrial segment. Mr. Reddy proudly presents the company to be maintaining the leading position for more than a decade. Astra has also established itself as key supplier to DRDO and ISRO.
Astra Microwave Products is a technology driven company. In order to produce a steady foot in the industry Astra has already started vertical integration and have upgraded them from sub-system manufacturer to System Integrator and have supplied few systems to DRDO, ISRO & other end users. They are focusing on investing in infra and increase their technology footprint to have their product in world-class quality. Their future planning is fascinating as Mr. Reddy goes on to explain, “We are positioning ourselves as System Integrator and building teams and expanding both in Hyderabad and Bengaluru. We are also actively evaluating to align and reposition ourselves after reforms in Space segment”.
